I will say, the $18,000,000 has probably several hundred diamonds of a very high quality and probably took several years to find ones that all had the same color and quality. Those diamonds could easily be 10,000-30,000 a piece. That principal cost plus the time and effort to find the rest of the diamonds, etc. edit: Just want to add that most jewelry that is covered in diamonds, the cost of the diamonds are usually fairly cheap in comparison. Usually anywhere from $15-150 per diamond
