Fiona Hill, the White House’s former top Russia adviser, told the House Intelligence Committee on Nov. 21 that she is concerned committee members have been inferring that Ukraine, not Russia, interfered in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. “ This is a fictional narrative that has been perpetrated and propagated by the Russian security services themselves,” Hill said in her opening statement during a public hearing. Hill testified on Nov. 21 in the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. The probe has focused on a July 25 phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
