The people have to feed themselves! They just have to! We are no longer in the 1960's or 70's. Nigeria is not a welfare state, as we don't have the magnitude of Nigerians that pays good government taxes! 215 million people can't be waiting on government to sell oil, to give them money to eat! For us to really survive in Nigeria, 3 things are involved! 1) Farming, and I put farming ahead of education, because one doesn't need school cert or diploma or degree to be a farmer! Instead of paving over every square inch of our compounds in our cities and towns houses with cement, let's leave allotment areas for planting crops!! People planting some crops or running poultry would cut down the dependence on market forces! 2) Education!!! Those days where we mock people by saying "you just dey speak grammar" must stop ! Education and let me tag this education with the 3rd point;Skills!! Education, particularly skilled education is key to job creation and societal development and advancement! Education does not mean go and study "Mass Comm", or sociology, or philosophy or history.... Apart from studying Medicine and perhaps Law, many of the qualifications our youths seem to gravitate to are not employment friendly!! Plumping, masonry, electrician, carpentry, road construction are subject young people can study so as to be able to not only get a job, but to create one or more for themselves! This waiting on government is so 1970ish! Those days don pass go finish! We need to reorient and recalibrate our system in Naija , because it is only a fool that remains thirsty in the abundance of water!! 👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!
