After the last nuke was decomissioned and Ukraine oil gas reserves were contracted for development russia invaded crimea ! It is all on Obama’s shoulders. Ukraine gave up its nukes, because the West told them to and said we’d protect them. Russia rolls into Crimea 10 years ago and Obama says: “Shame on your Russia. Play nice.” But didn’t do a thing.

Ukraine's Oil and Gas reserves only supplied a small part of their domestic consumption, in fact the bulk of Ukraine's O&G revenues were related to transit fees of Russian Natural Gas to Western Europe. Regarding nuclear weapons, Ukraine was one of the largest arms dealers in the 90's, with these former USSR munitions being shipped to regimes across the Middle East and Africa, there was absolutely no way on earth that the US and Russia was going to leave nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Ukraine's blackmarket was legendary.

Ru**ia threatened nuclear war to Lithuania when it stopped buying Ru**ian gas in 2014. It´s their go-to phrase. We in Central and Eastern Europe are used to threats of "ultimate escalation". It´s a feature of life, like hurricanes in the Caribbean or Trump yelling about immigrants.
