Don't see the problem. He was clearly dissatisfied with the hotel in some way, he complained strongly, both members of staff just laughed. But you could see how he was genuinely sorry for getting in the way of the woman behind. His apology to her was heartfelt. So although he was mad with the hotel, he was big enough to take a breath and apologise to the woman behind.
