These robots have nothing to do with becoming "pets". Or replacing dogs. It appears they're being made and designed to become war machines and policing devices, primarily. If you look into the funding the company that designs and builds these things has received, it's likely that they got a substantial boost from the DOD, or maybe that's who's finding the whole project.

@@GodsDad98These are cheap commercial robots. They couldn't cross a battlefield, you can stop them using small and trivial obstacles. Flying drones are scary. Artillery is scary. This isn't scary. The combination of limited accumulator charge, limited mobility, limited intelligence, limited speed and limited sensory inputs makes this trivial. US warships are scary. Artillery is scary.
