I employ various techniques such as parallel lines, going over specific spots many times to make things darker, and using teeny-tiny little squiggles to register different tones! At some point I'd like to make a few tutorial videos and it would be great to dedicate a video on shading techniques specifically.

could you like,... erase slightly in the middle of etch-a-sketch-ing to get more color gradations and stuff? also, as an electronics person, I now really wanna find a way to put rotary encoders and a microcontroller into an etch-a-sketch so drawings can be perfectly digitized.

@@xxzhavoc5055 that's a really easy question to ask and a really difficult one to answer. I'd estimate on the low end that the art I made in this video would have had an asking price of around $100 each, up to $250 or so. I typically sell art for between $150 - $2500.

There is no ink inside of an Etch A Sketch, it's powder that is scraped off the glass screen by a stylus inside of the toy. So in that sense as long as there is powder in the Etch A Sketch, it's like having an infinite stack of paper!
