You're the first guy I've seen on youtube that does the layout different. markings on the flat side of 2x6's Why do you do it that way? cause it squares it up better?

@@MrKcTofu20 I was always taught to mark on the edge of the plate but over the years I’ve found that it doesn’t really require much more time or effort to mark on the face. It’s easy to get a 2x4 or 2x6 pretty close to square without a line but if it’s all the same then why not mark on the face and make it 100%?

@@LukeTheBuilder with todays twisted, fast growth lumber, marking on the flat is the only way to go. I use a 18" vice clamp to twist my studs into position, always paying close attention at my door openings. A little extra forethought at framing makes the finish end a dream.
