My family's thanksgiving drama this year: my grandma set the microwave on fire and we learned that they don't own a fire extinguisher, so my grandfather used his HANDS to take the burning stuff and throw it in the sink and proceeded to pour gravy boats of water over it until the flames stopped. Santa is bringing them a fire extinguisher and a new microwave this year

Hugs, I feel you on the reds, I figure if I play around long enough I will find a way. My mom passed on Thanksgiving a couple of years ago and my husband lost both his parents in the intervening year. I tried really hard to make the holidays happen last year and all that happened was I ended up exhausted and feeling empty insides. This year I had a spa day instead. I still feel sad, but I will make my own traditions when I am ready.

Thankfully I had minimal drama at thanksgiving - it was the first holiday with my boyfriend and his family was I was in a PANIC they would hate the food I made. Luckily the pecan bars and pumpkin pie turned out beautifully and I haven’t been shunned from future events lol

My husband set the turkey on fire. He was grilling with some wood chips for added flavor. Started to run out of time, so cranked up the heat and ran in the house to prepare to leave. Upon returning, he was greeted by massive flames shooting out of the grill. The Turkey was burned solid black, so he did his best to remove the char. Surprisingly, it came off in almost a solid piece in what looked very much like a helmet. 🌸🐝

You look gorgeous, sure with more complex eye looks sometimes we all ride the struggle bus, one reason why when I did bridal I wouldn't let them look at the mirror, one starts stressing because it looks bad before it gets awesome. This interpretation of Andromeda's look while not a Tom look, you still slay and it's a serve. Also, news on the lilac blush, I ended up with the Dior Rosy Glow in Pink Lilac as I think the Gucci Highlighter will enhance it a lot, it was the bluest one I could find and swatch and managed to buy the last one at the Sephora near my house. Is it as purple as I wanted, no but I think I'm going to have to just think that the colour I want only exists in my head I also swatched the Haus Labs blush balm and I hated the colour and texture and the packaging felt cheap. Thanks for keeping us company, and I also love making cheesecake.

For Thanksgiving my husband and I go to my mom's house. His family is all the way in TX and we can't afford to travel often. My mom has always enjoyed cooking everything each year so all we have to do is show up. A little backstory before the "drama". My skin is naturally red due to rosacea. I use a green color corrector to tone it down almost everyday. People always comment on my complexion when I don't so it's become second nature to cover my skin. However, I watched a different KZbinr that basically stopped wearing makeup. She expressed how liberating it felt and how her skin cleared up because she was wearing less makeup. It made me really think about why I wear makeup. So for this past week I wasn't wearing much makeup and it felt nice. I shouldn't feel compelled to wear it everyday. I want to enjoy my self expression through makeup. Like a creative outlet. Fast forward to Thanksgiving. We get inside and situated and my mother immediately asks if I was feeling alright since I was so red (in the cheeks). She jumped to the conclusion that it must be high blood pressure. I live in Maine and we're starting to get colder temperatures. I volunteered to have my blood pressure checked as she has a wrist cuff at home. Obviously it was high given the situation. Instead of fighting back I chose to brush it off. My blood pressure hikes depending on the situation. Think like white coat syndrome. Needless to say I was embarrassed and it reinforced my desire to cover my face. Even if this journey took you in a different direction, this look is a serve! Love the idea of mixing stuff to see how it goes. These videos have really helped me avoid Black Friday shopping. I bought some planned Christmas items, and some work clothes that were on sale. Overall very intentional purchases and less chaotic from prior years.

I tend to avoid the color red too but Andromeda’s look was stuck in my head & I’m so glad I got more of it through you doing this video. Like usual, I always appreciate your reflection at the end! I do like to switch things up sometimes because makeup is fun & washes off, although it can definitely mess with self-esteem or perception of self when the looks I love most don’t get as much love or attention as those that don’t feel very me. But at the end of the day my makeup is about me & what I like! Also, I love seeing your hair growth journey and whenever I see you flip the curls at the nape of your neck, I think of your birthday video where you referenced that (lol in my head, I can hear you saying “woman! Woman?”) & and it makes me so happy.

I live with my parents and siblings so we didn't go anywhere. We were were up and cooked and watched the parade. It was really nice. I made the mac and cheese and we had wings rather then a whole bird. Just quiet and chill. AND I didn't have to be rush to the ER due to a tooth ache like last year so that's a plus. I can't imagine hosting for a whole group, it sounds like an actual nightmare to my terribly introverted self. If I ever get married my one fear is that I'll have to do something like that. Or worst go to my partners family's house for dinner. Like no, never, I want a divorce. But like that's ridiculous cause I'll want to see my family too. So hosting them would be the easiest thing. My god the horror.

Chef Cecily checking in with some unsolicited advice (ponderings): a cheesecake that has a lumpy texture can be from a few things; it could be curdled, which can happen of over mixed (split batter), the addition of an acid (like lemon or such), or from water seeping into the mixture if baking in a water bath.

I for one love love LOVE how this turned out & I also love that you mused about the fact that maybe you didn't enjoy it in the beginning because it's something you're not used to seeing! For years I said I hated blue eyeshadow & it made me look like mimi Bobeck. Then I forced myself to use nothing but blue tones for a whole month. It is now one of my most used/loved tones. I just wasn't used to seeing it on myself! Watching you do this made me wonder if Andromeda goes light to dark or vice versa? Since i have such hooded eyes i always start with the darkest mattes first because i have better control. Random thought but it made me wonder 😅❤

The reflexive pronoun for 'they' singular arguably hasn't been standardized yet, so you can use 'themself' if you like it better :) English is a living language so widespread usage will affect what becomes standard 💗
