Caroline Gross.... But... THEY DO!!!!! there are several organizations that do just that. Go to Sheldrick Wildlife on you tube. It was started by a British couple on the 70's. Madame Sheldrick passed just recently. They take care of elephants, rhinos, any animal that needs to be rehabbed and takes really good care of all of them. I think they even had a zebra! I love love love the work they do with the babies after their mother dies, usually bc of humans!!.. They take care of them, feed them, sleep with them, teach them, etc. They do it in stages and eventually, when THEY are ready, they leave to find their own herd. They even bring their babies back to show them off. It's sweet. Any way, go check them out. Also, I'm a REALLY big fan of HERD/Jabulani rescue center. The whole herd is made up of orphaned elephants. I follow them daily on social media. I believe (?) Nadine, the owner, is British. She has a great program. I believe she is the only rescue center that has an ALBINO elephant!! Her name is Khanyisa. She's beautiful. Her mom was poached and she got stuck in a snare that cut almost her entire ear off and gashed her head deeply. Cuts everywhere. She was less than a month or so old. She was in that snare for days. She almost didn't make it. Today she is thriving under Nadine's love and devotion. PLEASE look them up on you tube. So, you see, the British are trying to do the right thing. The humans need to stop and have respect for this species. Education is the way to go. This is my contribution for the day. I hope that helped?? I'll respond if you have more comments or questions. Happy 4th.🇺🇸 (Yes, I'm American).

Even seeing him against these cars doesn't convey just how big they are. When you're sat in the top seat of a game viewing vehicle and they come alongside and look down on you. That makes you feel small. I'm not sure this particular elephant is in full musth though. He isn't belligerent enough.
