For my use cases I'm far more concerned about MS breaking something than some extremely unlikely security vulnerability most hackers would never both with outside of enterprise targets because there are far easier ways to compromise the average Joe's system or steal their information.

QA went the way of the dodo, nevermind severely impacting everyone making software and having to contend with an ever changing environment, instead of one big service pack every few years. @@tomclanys No, it's stupider than that: I have an interest in nuke disasters and Fukushima was looking like it was Chernobyl levels way back when it was happening, so I got SO MUCH KNOWLEDGE about it because I was interested about its safeties and failsafes (there was a reason in Chernobyl only Reactor 4 failed spectacularly, so I wanted to know the reason for Fukushima's). The reason is SPECIFICALLY that the building company DISREGARDED THE SAFETY ENGINEERS' DESIGN SPECS. These emergency generators on ground level were supposed to have been ELEVATED above the "worst scenario" levels, but the cost-cutting managers went "oh we'll NEVER have a tsunami tall enough to get over the safety wall!" The generators WERE supposed to be elevated at IIRC, 2.5m above the rest of the stuff, and to have powered the emergency drainage. And to compound it, the emergency system to avoild meltdowns also worked on ELECTRICITY instead of being hardware-based, because again, cheaper than making a purely mechanical relief system (which, as it happens, was what helped Chernobyl's Reactor... 2? (I haven't had to use my Chernobyl nerd knowledge in like 15 years in my defense) avoid a meltdown. So technically the generators' position wasn't the biggest cause, it was idiot managers not listening to the security engineers and instead listening to "this is less expensive to build" (and contracting a building company that didn't exactly have the highest regard for safety either, IIRC the translated explanations from bilingual people who could translate the plans and construction stuff and the disaster report).

You realise this doesn’t simply work right? You need to look at both the principle of benefits received and the principle of ability to pay at a MINIMUM when it comes to taxes. Then, you need to consider horizontal and vertical equity - which is almost impossible to determine. Simply put, a family with 6 kids in a high income bracket is not the same as a family of 2 people in the same income bracket. Would you tax a family of 6 the same as a couple? No, you wouldn’t. This is just one example of the sensitive topic of taxes. At the moment, especially in 3rd world countries, the middle class is being taxed an suboptimal amount that is actually damaging the economy and destroying the middle class. The rich will remain rich, and the poor get benefits that don’t even help them. Give benefits to the unemployed ? Would you give benefits to someone who’s rich and unemployed? I made this comment on the original More Perfect Union video, but here we go again: There are dozens of perfectly valid reasons to pay one driver more than another. Ranging from being a better rated driver, having seniority, a better car. In normal business one employee might simply be a better negotiator when hired or asking for a raise, uber probably has similar concerns based on what it takes to motivate a particular driver. None of this is illegal or even morally wrong.

Even without getting into all the tracking the app is doing while someone is driving, just the basic differences in vehicles could be a significant factor in the pricing difference. Add in the ratings and you have another layer of distinction between two supposedly "equivalent" drivers. I'm more than willing to fight illegal activity but let's be honest and focus on that rather than whining about stuff that seems pretty reasonable; even if me the passenger doesn't see the direct monetary benefit from a lower price, I am getting a better car or a better driver out of the deal, which to most has a value greater than 0.
