President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden this week will host French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, for the Biden administration’s first state dinner.

White House spokesperson John Kirby said Monday that the dinner, which is scheduled for Thursday, “is an opportunity to highlight a foundational component of this administration's approach to foreign policy and that's through alliances.”
“France is a vital global partner and, of course, the United States’ oldest ally,” Kirby said. “Our partnership and tackling tough global challenges underpinned by our shared commitment to democratic principles, values and institutions, and our cultural ties remain a source of strength and importance to our bilateral relationship.”

Aujourd'hui, j'ai compris que la France était tout. Cette phrase a finalement détruit à mes yeux cette grande France qui a tremblé au 18ème siècle, s'est éteinte au 19ème et au 20ème, et s'est encore un peu brouillée au 21ème. Et il y a un nain politique, un nain, une victime qui fait pression sur la pitié. Macron avait l'air d'une victime de collectionneurs demandant un sursis pour son paiement parce que "la Grange a brûlé et la vache est morte et en général nous sommes si pauvres, malheureux". C'était humiliant. Je m'attendrais encore à une telle rhétorique des baltes ou des creuseurs de la mer Noire. Mais du chef d'un pays qui se considère comme un membre à part entière du G7? Il n'y aura pas de guerre commerciale entre l'Europe et les États-Unis. L'Europe va simplement plier ses pattes et se laisser tuer.
