For those searching a Casio watch for tired eyes, some some models with big numbers: - DataBank DB-36 - illuminator W-96H - WS-1300 Tide&Moon - AE-1500 (the biggest one, amd same form factor of the Mudman)

I’ve got the negative screen army green one which apparently has the same issues, many people say it’s worse. Albeit, I do have good vision and I have no problems at all with reading the time. Some people must have really bad eyesight. It’s no where near as bad as people make out. I love this watch!

Good to know. I was on the fence about the new mudman but Pulled the trigger on the GW-9400 instead. Coming from the old G-9000 mudman, the Rangeman is hefty.

The 9400 is still a viable option. At the very least you saved some money over the 9500.

I think it is little bid over exaggerated. I don’t have a problem at all and i mean at all from all angles in sunshine and inside. Edit: stay away from the negative ones. Those are indeed terrible when it comes to readability of the time in every light conditions

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this screen!! It's perfect!! I love mine!! It would be awful if it had a negative screen, though!!

I have the positive display GW-9500 and yes its not as clear as my GW-5000u square but, and at my age I wear glasses, you do kinda get used to it. It's a brilliant watch and would be just about perfect with slightly better legibility but not a deal breaker for me.

I have also noticed that you don't get the outline shadow of the rest of the digital display anymore like on the older Casio's with brighter display digits

This is a deal breaker for me. I prayed for a g shock with bigger time display. My eyesight not great. Legibility is key for me. Bitterly disappointed is not an understatement! 😩

The numbers are big on the Mudman. I've learned to live with the glare. I have to get it at the correct angle to read well. But if you're looking for an easy to read G-Shock, look at the GBD-H2000. It has big numbers and can be read at all different angles.

I just bought gwg2000 model which is on the way to me at the moment and just seen this 9500 has been released. Planning to get 9500 as a main every day beater, but now on the fence and would like to see it in person if it's a big of a deal. Do you plan an update video any time soon or it's still uncomfortable to read the dial and you would advise to pass on this model?

Some guys have said in the comments that they returned their Mudman because they found the legibility so bad. I’m disappointed in it but I’ve learned to live with it. So it depends on how much poor legibility bothers you. (Steer clear on the negative display though.) Yes I will update my review. This is why i held off buying the 9500. Its a mean looking and rugged as all hell but i dont like how they did the dual layer display with the compass. I think your new Rangeman is the better watch for sure but its always good to have options. Still better than a negative display.

Also, ich habe mir die Uhr auch gekauft und bin total begeistert. Ich habe mit der Ablesbarkeit keine Probleme... außer, wenn ich auf die Rückseite schaue! 😂 Nein, aber mal ehrlich, man schaut von oben auf die Uhr und nicht von links unten und dabei gibt es keine Probleme und das einzige, was mich irritiert hat, bevor ich es geschnallt habe, ist das "Displayloch" im oberen Display. Dort, wo alle "Pfeile" in der Mitte zusammentreffen kann es, wenn der Kompass gerade nicht in Funktion ist, wirken, als wenn das Display fehlerhaft/schadhaft ist. Jetzt, da ich es erkannt habe, stört es mich nicht mehr. 😉

@JimKinkade I don't know to tell you the truth but the thickness of the oil would have an effect with refraction too. Wouldn't it? As in thickness of the watch, so depth I guess is the word I'm looking for....

Yes, it's a super rugged watch and looks tough. Just be aware the screen can be hard to read due to glare.

@JimmyKinkade Alright: Rangeman: *Metalic buttons *Time stamp ( Record the time) *Quick start of stopwatch ( While on reg time mode). Mudman: *Bigger digits *Slimmer ( less likely to snag) *Lighter weight *More harsh environment resistant ( Not that it matters but still) *Overall slightly more durable *Better compas display What I don't like about it: *Split date layout * Waste of space on the screen *Odd light button angle Like anything else there are good and bad points so we just adapt and get used to it if we so choose to.
