Very happy with the S7. The bigger screen is what sold me from the S4. Unless there is a redesign for the S8/9, I will keep my S7 until the S10. Also LOVE the keyboard on the watch. Use it a bunch! But I know it's not for everyone.

Totally agree, battery has been amazing for a few years. I still have my S5, and battery health is at 91% (I’m using always on display on and off like 60-40% of the time) - i use it for around 2 days, having a 1-2h workout almost daily. I’m really inlove with this product, no exaggeration 😅. Oh! Have I mentioned I have this watch for a bit more over 2 years? 😏mhm! Love it

I've bumped my watch against metal railing 20+ times, and not a mark on my stainless steel #6. I even took it to a water park once and wanged it against a concrete wall. Not hard, but enough to give me a minor panic attack. The thing is durable!

I bought my Apple Watch series 7 on launch day after owning series 3 for 3-4 years. I am very satisfied with how it works and looks. I have dark aluminium (I think its blue) non cellular version (I thought about that but since I live in EU and move between countries as a student nearly every week I wouldn’t benefit from it much). I use always on display since it looks more like a watch, I like having it on during workout because I can see the time without moving my wrist (Which is sometimes difficult to do when you’re exercising). My battery health is at 97% suggesting that having always on is indeed a battery hit. However for me the benefit outweighs the cost. Battery life is a non issue, I have a nice stand for my watch and I place it for charging every morning during hygiene, it charges rapidly (since I use it as a sleep tracker and alarm I cannot charge during the night) and has always enough juice till the next morning. If not, I can recharge very easily in the evening. I love how smooth and functional the watch is, I don’t have to check my phone as much, I can reply to messages ( I use dictation since the swipe keyboard is not available in my language sadly), set timers, alarms, check to do lists and more… As a fitness tracker I find it very reliable and convenient. All in all it was worth the money for me and I would recommend to anyone thinking about buying AW for the first time or upgrading from series 3 or below.

Don’t kill the series 3, not because it’s a good product with respect to newer watches and is still worth buying, but because for pre existing series 3 owners, it doesn’t make sense to just kill them out. Many (many) people don’t need the new features and for them the series 3 is a great option to consider; I’ll give you the example of one of my relatives who can’t see, they are very old and don’t care about the screen size or the speaker volume, but benefit from the features such as hey Siri or Taptic time, the magnetic charging is convenient, for what they need from the watch it delivers fine enough.

I bought the S7 at launch, It is my first Apple Watch. I use it everyday and sleep with it. I have AOD on and I charge it after work once a day. It last me for a full day. Now my battery capacity already at 96%. On the first week I already got a ding on the aluminum case and several scratches on the screen and I was very careful with it. I knew then I Had to order a screen protector and bumper as the apple watch is really not that durable and I work in construction so i must have all that stuff to preserve my watch. I do enjoy the convenience the watch provides but I cannot get Apple Pay to work at all which is a main reason a bought it for. I must say the the price I paid for it, the quality did not match. The fact that I own plenty other apple products, this watch is very disappointing for me.

I’m still using a Series 3 since May 2018! So now I AM planning to upgrade to the Series 8 this Fall. I could get a Series 7 now but I’m not in a big rush AND I plan to keep the next Watch for a similar period, so might as well wait until the Fall at this point and get the latest iteration which will then last me as long time. Additionally, I never had a cellular model because I didn’t feel the need but am now considering a cellular model this time around but need a bit more time to think about that. I do have some reasons now why I may want a cellular model this time even though I don’t see myself using it routinely for phone calls but perhaps for being able to stay in touch as needed when biking or hiking at long distance , stream music during exercise and be able to call for help or be reached in an emergency (w/o necessarily needing to carry my phone all the time). :)

@@pierrougne So, my old Series 3 Apple Watch, that I got in May 2018, really surprised me in terms of battery life (and capacity) as well as overall performance. I did finally upgrade about a month ago to a new Series 8 Apple Watch w/cellular. I’m really loving this “upgrade”, since the Series 3 was so much older and despite being a good watch, was missing features. If memory servers, my Series 3 still had around 88% - 89% battery capacity when I upgraded to the Series 8. This seems very impressive to me after having it for nearly 4 1/2 years. I’ve only had my current iPhone 12 Pro Max for 2 years and it’s now at 87% capacity. Despite trying to manage the charging, and keep it between 30-90% most of the time. Not let it drain fully, nor charge fully (unless I really need to). And the iPhone battery is obviously much bigger. So, I probably would’ve considered keeping my Series 3 Watch even longer, except that Apple is no longer supporting it with watchOS updates, and I really wanted a larger display and some of the “missing” features. But my Series 3 gave me a good run. ::) P.S. - the new Apple Watch Ultra is really good too! An amazing watch! Lives up to all of Apple’s claims. But it’s a little more than I need, and a little too big for me. But given what it offers, and knowing that Apple stuff is always more expensive, I was surprised they didn’t price it even higher. I think it’s pretty well priced for what it offers. ::)

@@willr2461 thanks so much for your kind reply ! I was not expecting such a detailed and accurate response … I am planning to buy a new AW 7 as my old AW4 ( 83% battery left unfortunately…) and your thoughtful comment help me in that way to decide myself !… As regard my iPhone 13 pro ( 90 % left ) , it has undergone two daily sims ( esims ) which didn’t help battery life health obviously… Quite worried for my iPhone battery after a year of heavy use . @@pierrougne Yeah. The AW helped motivate me to be more active and get more exercise and get in better shape! I was not very active during 2022, however. I’m hoping to turn that around again. Especially more biking again next Summer, hopefully. I love doing long bike rides but hardly got in any rides this year for various reasons. Yeah, so the iPhone’s battery capacity seems to degrade more quickly than the Watch. Perhaps it’s because I’m using the phone a lot more heavily (on daily basis) than my watch and so have to charge it a bit more often. Enjoy your new AW 7!

@@pierrougne still using series 2. The SE 2 was really a cheaper back material and price drop so not that much better. My S2 shows some lag but is still usable, especially since I work from home most of the time. Yes I am missing out on several features by putting it in airplane mode, but if I didn’t then I’d use almost a full battery each day and wear out the battery much sooner. Here’s the question I have. When will Apple make a smaller watch face again. I’d like a buy an Apple Watch as a gift for my wife. But she has small wrists and can not do with a 40mm display, let alone a 42 or 44. Running into the same issue with finding a small enough watch band. Which is the reason I’d look at a Series 3, just for that smaller size option.
@kylestriffler3312

I could be wrong, but I believe the Apple Watch never actually got bigger. The 38mm series 3 is the same size as the 40mm series 6, and the 41mm series 7. The reason for the “size increase” is because the bezel got smaller, but the actual footprint of the Watch itself stayed the same.

Just to note that while your watch is at 99% Bh, it’s actually not the 99% of its actual battery capacity. All batteries are different and you actually get bigger capacity battery than its specified. So the bh doesn’t drop bellow 100% until the battery falls under the design capacity not the actual capacity. My 13 pro max has 180mah more capacity than the specs would suggest( I used coconut battery), so it will stay 100% until those extra mah are gone. Thats why its stuck on 100% so long. I’m just saying that you cant do anything meaningful about battery health. Even if you always charge it 0-100% its not that big of a deal and it wont degrade much faster than micromanaging it everyday. Its the number of cycles that matter. I just dont know why people all of the sudden care so much about battery health when it’s really not worth it.

Incidentally, I wanted to say that the most important features of the Apple Watch (for me) are quick notifications, Apple Pay, and fitness tracking (especially for my long distance biking), and of course quickly checking the time (it’s a watch after all, lol) and what the weather will be like before or during an outdoor activity. But I’d have to say Apple Pay stands out as THE most important thing. As I find it’s the most convenient way to pay since it’s on your wrist and so not only do you not need to pull out your physical wallet but also don’t need to pull out your phone even. Not that I never use Apple Pay via my iPhone (I do) but I find that, at least in stores, the Watch is even quicker & easier to pay with. So I really like that feature on the watch a lot. ;)

When the battery health went down to around 73% it will almost be dead by night so I went to an authorised Apple service (since we don't have Apple Stores where I live) and they swapped the whole watch for the battery replacement fee (95$ or something, a bit pricier than Apple Store but still decent) and now I have a basically new series 4 with 100% battery health that works perfectly. I don't see myself upgrading before the battery degrades again so I have another 3-4 years of life for this series 4.

I’ll usually throw it on the puck when I get home and when I get up in the morning. Screen has held up very well, though I am extra paranoid and keep a protector on it. With respect to people who say the 7 has no meaningful changes over the 4, I know opticians aren’t part of your healthcare scheme but maybe spend a few bucks and get your eyes checked.

I'm still on the Series 5 and can't justify upgrading to any of the newer models. Still love the design and has all the features I need. Just going to get a battery replacement in a few months and should be good for another few years.

I am a mac user, I use the m1 to work but I have an Android phone, I know I know, what does it have to do with apple whatch, these days I have been thinking about switching to Iphone, but I am worried about how much all the youtubers talk about the battery with their devices, I have a xiaomi 10t, NOT THE PRO and I must say that I never think about my battery or how to charge it or how to take care of it so that it lasts longer, I charge my phone in the morning while I take a shower and dress and stay 100% charged basically lasts a day and a half and I am still worried to see the status of the batteries in apple, the little progress with fast charging and how normal it has become for its users to be worried about that point, honestly, I don't know if I want to enter that world of worries, I don't customize my phone, I don't use external programs, I don't have security problems and less battery problems, it just works every time I need it, I wonder if the iphone or the apple watch can offer me something really best of What do I have today?

Still rocking my Series 6 with 86% battery health. I toyed with the idea of upgrading to the 7 and even though the screen and keyboard are very attractive I decided to hold off one more year and will probably go with the Series 8.

I’ve had my Series 3 since it came out. It’s been really good to me, but I haven’t worn it in awhile. I’m hoping to get a Series 7 so I can wear a watch again, and then I’ll know I’ll have two things that’ll last me a long time: my 13 Pro Max and a Series 7, my two favorite numbers.

Day 1 series 4 …. 81% battery health…. Have done nothing but use it everyday, no issues at any moment! Won’t upgrade till she dies….. HOWEVER, man there have been some TEMPTING series 7 deals lately, and I am someone who responds via watch and KNOW I’d love the keyboard, that’s the top draw for me!

I have the series 5 44mm gold aluminum and the battery health is at 87%. NOTE: I did get it used from eBay. The battery is kind of suffering even with always-on display turned off. I’m just deciding whether I should get the series 7 gold stainless steel now or wait for the 8. I mean the series 8 is only like 5 months away. So… any advice Drew?

Series 4 stainless steel still going strong …. Can’t bring myself to upgrade after spending £500 on it , the resale value is so bad I couldn’t even get £225 for it so I decided to keep it and run it into the ground I’ll even renew the Apple care on it in a couple of months so it’s protected for another 2 years lol I’m more interested in the phones than the watches My advice with watches is buy older models and get the stainless steel , the steel and sapphire glass make it feel much more premium ✌🏼

I got the aluminium series 7 at launch after my series 0's battery finally died! So 7 months on I am down to 96% battery health and I don't worry about how I charge it and keep the always on display on all the time. Also I don't have any scratches dents dings etc the watch is like new. Personally I don't see the point in spending any more than is necessary on an Apple Watch as it's a piece of tech rather than a piece of jewellery!

Battery life sucks even more with the last update. Love the design too though, but this could be it for me if the battery is not dramatically better with the 8. I call bullshit on several days battery with aod off, I get a day and a half that way, and at best 24 hours with always on screen on. Also, I’ve used fast charger on mine since day one, and the battery health is still at 100%, so don’t listen to dumbasses telling you how to charge. Charge it whenever and however you want to, it’s fine.

Why has my battery health degraded so much. It’s at 81% rn. I don’t use the watch a lot and it ends up laying on the charger for longer. I think it might be cos of that. I have an S5 btw.

Aluminum Series 6 owner here. I really like the look of the 7, but it's not enough of a difference in the product to warrant my upgrading to. So, if Apple keeps the same or similar style I will likely buy an 8, keeping my 6 for sleep tracking. If Apple moves to the straight edge look, I'll pass.

I just got a green series 7 off ebay and so far, I’m quite happy! Tbh, it looks black in most lighting conditions. Used to have the series 2 back in the day and was pretty annoyed by poor battery life and by how slow it was overall. Even got to reuse my old black milanaise loop! The advantages over my Fitbit Charge 5 are media/home control, Siri, notifications and being able to respond to them. Also, the Apple watch syncs in the background, while you have to wait for 15-30 seconds for the fitbit to sync. But then again, the Apple watch just can’t touch the 7 day battery life of the fitbit, the fitbit app’s Ui is more comprehensive than the dumpsterfire that is Apple’s health app. Then you realize, that for proper sleep tracking with Apple and other health features, you have to download 3rd party apps that come with their own separate subscriptions. The apple watch is the cooler device, but the fitbit is a bit more astonishing, considering they managed to cram heartrate, ecg, blood oxygen, advanced sleep tracking, body temperature, notifications and 7 day battery life into a device the size of a grape. (You only get an average blood oxygen reading for your sleep session and the app only tells you that your body temp is x degrees higher/lower than your average… but still!) Not a bad choice if an Apple watch seems too pricey, even though some health features are locked behind their premium subscription.
