Wow. This was incredible to watch. What a day we live in, this is an absolute miracle of science, technology and human ingenuity and creativity to completely reshape the bone and areas, fitting and adapting the appliances that will last 20 to 30 years is nothing short of a miracle. I also want to say there is honestly something quite moving about people that are so amazingly good at what they do and when they have developed their craft, skill and knowledge to the point of complete mastery. Especially when these guys were sewing her up. You had three people working so fast and effortlessly with muscle memory having clearly done this and similar processes hundreds of times. The three guys and their hands moving so fast sewing and immediately anticipating and reacting to each other’s moves. This was incredible to watch.

Just had my arthritic knee replacement done last week. I have RA & had no joint remaining. I had an Iovera procedure done two weeks prior & have done well. The Iovera uses carbon dioxide to freeze some of the two big nerves coming down & one coming up to the knee. Reduces pain significantly & has allowed me to be much more functional with much less pain. I’m a nurse & have had a lot of the nurse curse in the last few years starting with breast cancer. Good luck for anyone thinking about this - I am so happy that I did this!

@queenorca11712 жыл бұрын
This video is wonderful and well done. I had a total replacement three weeks ago. I haven't had physical therapy yet but was at 110 degree last week. I was bone on bone for close to three years so you can imagine the stability my new knee has. The only hardship is the pain and swelling. I'm hopeful when I begin therapy next week some of the pain will be more manageable. Most of the pain I feel is above my knee in my thigh. I have an excruciating pain that begins on the outside of my knee in the muscle which is like a nerve running through the muscle I assume. I had my left knee done so the swelling is great on the outside thigh. Other than that, I'm walking only with a cane when I go out just because I have balance issues not related to the knee. Getting up and walking the same day as surgery is key! Watching this video after my surgery was helpful in understanding just what was done. It wasn't as dramatic as I thought it would be. Thank goodness for KZbin!

I have had 5 knee revisions on my right knee. I have an awesome doctor at the Cleveland Clinic. I wish they would let me amputate my leg, but they wont. It is damaged on the inside, so it doesn't heal very well, my lymph nodes are non functioning from infections in the military when I was injured, and at this point I have had so many operations my nerves are all messed up, I only have about 50% of the muscles, and I would be more mobile with a mid thigh prosthetic leg. The VA and everyone say it is still viable. My amputee buddies have to slow down for my slow ass.

The surgery is the easy part . But the hard part Doing all the exercises and that's a must why don't we cover. 2 mistakes Patients make no plan when they get home from the surgery That means when you come home you need someone to stay with you at least 48 hours my wife stayed with me 15 days. The other mistake patients make not taking their meds can Not Do Their exercises. That's a big problem if you cannot do the exercises They would have to force your leg to move Taking the pain pillsStarting from scratch. It's easier Taking pain pills from the very start after get out the hospital even if you have a on the pain keep use pain pills for a lest a month so you can do your exercise .I Ask for more pain pills only for after my exercise .I am not take all the time like before I am tape off my pain pills .

Great video very interesting. I had my TKR 8 weeks ago the pain after my operation was so severe, I have to explain, it was a completely different pain it was pain from the surgery. The problem I had was adjusting my medication. I have a bad right leg due to a bad fall and which left me with nasty back problems for which I take 30mg of morphine daily and oral morphine when it is really bad I had difficulty getting the right dose of morphine as I was frightened I overdosed. I had the op on the Wednesday by the Friday I was so much pain I did not know what to do with myself. I have to say I took two extra does of oral morph every four hours after that for four days. I do not need it now. At the beginning I stated I would never have this op done again 8 weeks down the line yes I might if needed

Update 7 weeks out. Yes the early pain was pretty outrageous. Looking back I blame 50% of that on the tourniquet used during surgery, it shuts the blood supply off to the entire leg from crotch to ankle for almost an hour. On me that caused massive bruising, swelling and pain to the entire leg. But I’m much better now, used the walker the first three weeks graduated to a cane for maybe week and walking without either now. Not pain free but entirely bearable with OTC pain meds. Knee still has some internal swelling which makes it stiff which is uncomfortable, working with PT to loosen that up and get the muscles strengthened back. I had good luck with the spinal, it wore off the second day after surgery as expected. Over all it certainly hasn’t been the most fun I’ve ever had but I’m at least as good or better than before the surgery and hopefully it continues improving the way it has been.

I blame it on that very nasty backpack trip where I carried my pack and most of my young son’s stuff, probably 70 lbs total, up a heavy incline for probably 10 or more miles one day. Should never have done that. Then there was the running, a lot of it. And installing ceramic tile in my house, that’s very hard on the knees. Oh, and biking down the California coast on highway 1, lots and lots of up and down, I remember the knee pain. They should teach in school how to take care of your body.
