"The Highwaymen" is absolutely one of the best movies I've ever seen. Incredibly well done. I was mesmerized throughout. Watched it back to back within 24 hours and I will watch it again. Brilliant!

One of the best movies I’ve seen quite sometime, did it right and did them justice. Well done. Thanks for the 2.5 hour time machine. I love that era.

We need legends like this again, in an age where evil is being praised for harming so many.

Our sick society made heroes of these animals then and now. Twelve people lost their lives at the hands of these murderers. Hamer ended it the only way it could have ended.

We still have folks like this, trust me I know. The problem is they aren't "woke" and are being defunded. I was told once police work is sometimes hard, brutal, dirty, ugly and not pretty to watch! Yet, necessary for civil society to function.

The other thing that it made me realise is that, even with technology, nothing beats good old fashioned, tried and tested policing. I am so pleased that the Texas Rangers were reinstalled, and wonder how much of that was down to these two determined and brave men.
@gorillaonrye69075 жыл бұрын
The Texas rangers were not disbanded under ma Ferguson, that is a myth...there are many myths in this flic...for instance, Hamer set out after Barrow (feb.14, 1934)....Gault didn't join him until mid April....Gault and his wife were good friends of next door neighbors Frank and Gladys Hamer.....Hamer and Gault resigned from the rangers when the corrupt Miriam Ferguson was elected governor....they despised her and refused to work under her, she was that corrupt....The first time Hamer or Gault saw Barrow or Parker was seconds before they killed them.....There was no 'Wade McNabb' or any other prisoner paroled to lead Hamer to Barrow.....not knocking the film, on balance I liked it, but much of it was mere theatre...keeping an audience engaged......

@gorillaonrye69075 жыл бұрын
Not knocking Hancock here, but NOONE who volunteered for the Texas rangers would have suffered from "not being comfortable with deciding who gets to live and who does not"....These were men of iron constitutions who had no qualms about killing those who needed killing.....and it was a profound sense of justice that compelled them to do this dangerous work....Hamer was probably the greatest American lawman of the 20th century....a couple months into his hunt, he was advised by Simmons and the governor's office to take on a partner and Gault was his immediate choice....the scene above is typical hollyweird pap, inserting a degree of "mental anguish" where there very likely was none....these men had a lousy job that needed doing and the intestinal fortitude to do it....if they anguished over anything it was over being away from their families....

3 year old post, but I agree with you. I don't watch Yellowstone partially for the same reason. He is a great actor and did it a little in Hatfields and McCoys but think it fit the time of Anse Hatfield a bit better. In other roles, he speaks normally and I like it much better.
