Buying things I already love using every day, but nicer, has been working great for me. If I don’t like using something at a lower price point , I’m not going to suddenly love it because it’s expensive

Yea I think this is true for me too. Do you find the quality is better in high end though? Or is it a brand/logo thing?

Fantastic video, Amie. Your Chanel coin purse with the embossed camellia is my absolute favorite item in your collection. Total swoon. It just makes me happy whenever I see it and I always have to comment on it when it makes a reappearance. It’s like when Leo or Yoshi shows up and then I have to rewind to rewatch and focus bc I get totally distracted hahaha

My Chanel WOC is actually in my top 3 favorite luxury items that I own. But I also won't spent over 4K on a bag so it was a splurge for me and well worth it to get as close to something that looks like a Chanel handbag as I'll ever get :) I used to not put as much emphasis on card holders/wallets, but given the outrageous price increases, it's the easiest way to have a piece of affordable luxury these days so I've bumped it up on my list!
@suzannehall52006 ай бұрын
This was really good. The only thing I wouldn’t do is splurge on heels, but that’s just my lifestyle. I don’t wear them often, and due to numerous knee surgeries, I only wear them when I’m going somewhere that requires minimal walking. I do like to splurge on fine jewellery. It’s my favourite thing and I have been collecting since 1980 so a lot of my collection is expensive now but back in the days when gold was less than $100 an ounce it wasn’t a big splurge. It helped that gemstones and pearls were peanuts compared to today’s prices too.

Love this, Sweet Amie! Thank you! I agree with you, except I LOVE my WOC! I am, however, always travelling by car, and can have a tote full of ‘things that I MIGHT need’ for just in case. 😉 Seeing wee Leo is such a treat! Have a beautiful week, Lovely! ❤👜❤🇨🇦

What a cute baby! You should have him in every video. I agree with everything except wallet on chain. I keep mine in my work tote bag. It is very convenient to grab it when I need to stop at the store on the way home or have an appointment after work. I leave my tote in the car, so I don’t have to log it around. I can also use it as my evening bag.

I totally agree to put a hold on those cosmetic pouches. Lots of fashion houses include a cute travel pouch when you purchase makeup or skin care.

My preference; (1) versatile bag (small/mid size with top handle and detachable strap), (2) card holder, (3) reversible belt with a nice buckle, (4) silk scarf, (5) watch (esp kelly watch since it doubles as a cute accessory). Totally agree with the WOC. I bought the YSL wristlet then realized I need more space in my bag. I couldn’t be bothered to play tetris with my stuff 😅 Your recommendations helped me when I’m considering to buy luxury goods. Thank you Amie!

I have to say that the WOC on top of my list is the YSL flap envelope pouch that Amy recommended a long time ago, I got it in two colors, and I use them more often than my Chanel WOC. It was a great recommendation, thanks Amy!

These are all great points! I agree that lifestyle is a huge consideration. I’m the opposite where I find myself grabbing my big/small bags less and use WOC or mini bags for running errands. I also go for basic colors for versatility and since I have no need for more bags, i’m getting into accessories to add interest to my otherwise very plain dressing style. 😅 Def have my share of expensive misses and periods of denial before getting to this point.. *stares at my mostly unworn heels collection*

@@ChaseAmietotally! I've only recently stopped purchasing (non luxury) shoes in an effort to actually wear what I have. Weirdly I'm now kind of happy when a shoe rips/breaks (I will wear them to the ground) and only feel sad when it was a shoe a truly loved or a heel lol. I still think I have basically enough shoes to last me my entire lifetime though. Such is the life of someone who's trying to declutter and become minimalist but actually can't throw anything away 😅😅

Great video, I have a pretty substantial collection, and started to add Chanel WOC to my collection, because I love how it’s versatile for traveling to use for daytime into a nice evening dinner. I love the recently Chanel WOC that are a bit more fancier looking with adjustable straps, that help the use of these WOC from day to night. However, these were added now that my collection is quite completed.
@ladypsrn52186 ай бұрын
Great video, thanks Amie,I totally agree with your observations, I have narrowed my collection down to a couple of great totes a few medium sized bags,2 evening bags,a summer raffia bag and some comfortable healed shoes.I have also sold my wallet on chains as they are just not practical for me and just use my louie wallet and my coin purse for smaller bags.
@lenabo66116 ай бұрын
Great video! I personally would always buy a WOC though. I usually use them as occasion bags, simply 'cause I'm not a clutch person.
@TSal21106 ай бұрын
Another great video, thank you! Agree with it all except I’d say a WOC is so useful as something that pops into a larger tote. Also I’m a huge fan of the Hermes reversible belt which assuming you pick the right buckle can really elevate an outfit - I have 2 with different buckles which means 8 belts in 2! My first lux belt was inspired you - the ysl one which I still own and love!

Definitely go with the styles you use already! I'd also consider where you live, I live in a provincial town, and while I'll wear my Puzzle out shopping, I wouldn't reach for my Gucci monogram Horsebit, despite it having a casual feel when I use it with the canvas strap - I reserve that for less provincial towns or evenings out. I work in a hospital, and while some people do take their designer bag to work, my bag would languish in my locker all day, so I'd say my lifestyle doesn't warrant a designer bag for work. I bourght a Mulberry WOC on the preloved market, as you say they dont get used a lot, so mine was in perfect condition for half the price. I love my belts, and while I do have belts from Bally and Isabel Marant, my favorites are from Elliot Rhodes, amazing quality and interchangeable buckles, so similar to a reversible belt, they're very versatile (one strap, two or three buckles can take you anywhere). I'd go for these over an expensive luxury one every time. As for shoes, go for good quality mid price - I bought a pair of Isabel Marant sneakers which were cloth lined - I've worn them loads, but have worn a hole on the inside where my big toe is - for the price they should be leather lined! As for purses and cosmetic cases, etc - I go for good quality mid priced versions. I get pleasure using them, but they're not so spendy, although i would consider buying preloved if there was a design I loved in great condition. Reading this back, I'm obviously a fan of good quality and mid price 😉, which makes sense because I'm not generally logo driven, so (with the exception of my horsebit bag) I prefer my items to be understated!

My kids are teenagers now so my go-to bags are considerably smaller than they used to be and my larger ones hardly leave their perches. This month, I've been wearing my Senreve Mini Alunna more than anything else which is great because people aren't expecting me to carry their stuff for them.

A very insightful video! I wish everyone at the beginning of their luxury journey come across this video! They could have saved thousands of dollars! I have been on my luxury journey for more than a decade and I also found a lot value from this. Thank you Amie. 😊 I bought my first WOC lately. Before that, I also believed that it’s such a waste of money given its price and capacity. Realising I don’t have a WOC in my small but well-thought handbag collection, I bought a Constance to go from Hermes. It costs more than most luxury handbags out there. To my surprise, i have been getting so much use from it! It is so lightweight and small so i keep my cash, cards, lipsticks and my phone close all the time. When I go shopping on my own or hang out with girl friends, it’s so light and carefree. It saves much energy from carrying a big bag. If I hang out with my husband, I put some extra stuffs in his bag / in our car. When I hang out with my boy for a long day out, I need to bring water and some snacks with me. I will bring a canvas tote like French girls so I can throw it on the floor without any burden. I would not want to carry a big tote (however light it could be) on my shoulders all the time. So I think, if a WOC is useful really depends on your lifestyle. If you need to bring a water bottle with you most of the time, any leather bag would be too heavy for a daily use. I also bought my first luxury belt lately. It’s a Kelly belt from Hermes. I hope I will get much use value from it. I am so glad that I never wasted much money on SLGs, pouches and accessories. For costume jewellery, my husband (ex bf then) got me some a decade ago. But I was not impressed with the quality, beauty or durability. So I only buy fine jewellery from jewellery stores (none from luxury brands because the price is outrageous). Fine jewellery is pretty enough on its own. I think I will go for a nice neutral colour heel as my next luxury purchase.

Great list!! I completely agree. And the CC WOC's specially... they've really lost their mind with those prices. I do have a few that I've had for years and was able to get pre loved for very reasonable prices back then and love wearing them for date nights. I would however not buy them now. Even pre loved prices are beyond of what I deem appropriate for such an item. Such a shame. For anyone looking still for a good option, have a go at Bulgari. They have the Serpenti Forever Chain Wallet and it is still at a "reasonable" price point. They can be found at very good prices pre loved too.

I agree so much with this list (even though shoes is what the heart wants haha). I would actually also add sunglasses to the list of worth it. It's on your face (so big impact), often on repeat in photos and generally speaking are priced well relative to other items in a luxury house. I am curious to see a video for the not-so-new to luxury person and what's the recommendation for the phase where you have some of the basics/starting items, what other things to avoid. For example, multiples (different colors/materials of the same bag?), exotics (unless you have found your marquee piece), RTW, etc.
@ChaseAmie6 ай бұрын
Haha sometimes you just gotta listen to the heart! Sunglasses are a great addition - definite bang for your buck (as long as you don't sit on them accidentally like I've done haha). LOVE the idea of luxury for those not new to it, thank you!

I work from home and I'm in my leggings and sweatshirt from Monday to Friday 😂 so even though bags used to be my favorite thing in the world, I've leaned a lot more toward classic jewelry pieces like the Cartier Love range, a good watch, and nice pearl earrings; which with along some basic polished makeup make me look and feel great and put together without risking any of my delicious comfort being in sweats all day 😛

Certainly, i do agree with your thoughts Amie but i just recently got a Chanel Classic Black WOC. I do have my basic handbags from a tote to a mid-size handbag (MM Damier Azur tote to Mulberry Mini Alexa, to name a few) already therefore i got a Chanel WOC (with some of my hubby's contributions towards it for our wedding anniversary) 🤩) and to me just 1 WOC will do. I do have YSL Envelope clutch and also the Uptown clutch long ago thus these are more than enough. For luxury belts to me just one or two staples would be good enough and certainly do not spend on luxury shoes. I can't bear having these on the ground. I will get a good pair but not necessarily luxury if that make sense. Great video and thanks for sharing 😍
