Watch this before playing Villa-Lobos Etude 1

If you have been playing Classical Guitar for a bit of time, Villa-Lobos' Etude 1 is a piece sure to be in your sights. In this video, I'll give you guidelines about the piece and how to study it. I used a beginning student guitar at the end of the presentation to give you a sense of what you could expect when playing this piece with a student guitar.

I followed all guitar in hands and found very useful some tips, ie the change from chord with 4th finger on g# bass, it is enough to lift it to reach the A minor chord with whole bar. I think anyhow this is a great piece in itself, apart its huge purposes for arpeggio patterns and both hands coordination. Many thanks!

Could you do a lesson on correct free stroke release? Seems to be a lot of confusion in the Classical guitar world as to whether the finger immediately empties out or is held in the palm of the hand.

Personally, I don't. I prepare each finger individually. However, it is possible to do that.
