Appreciate your guidance. Just done with the exam and passed. Not a easy one as most mentioned. Practice as much as you can. For me what really helped me was doing practice tests from Skill-cert-pro. Almost identical to main exam with approximately 80% of questions straight out of these practice tests. I would recommend them if you're aiming for the certification.

@@MattMike thanks! Didn't want to let go of the 50% discount code I got :P I think even before someone starts off with the Learn Modules, building a few reports in PBI Desktop definitely helps to give a preliminary understanding of PBI. Kinda helps to grasp the modules as the content becomes more understandable when the layout of different screens is known to you. Maybe an initial SQL knowledge could also be of great help.

Thanks for helpful infos.I have an additional question though. Do you know if its is allowed to use Power BI desktop during the exam? Thanks!
@MattMike2 ай бұрын
Nope. There used to be a practical portion to the exam a while back, but now there is not. While you can't use Power BI during the exam, you do have access to the Microsoft Learn question forum which is a little bit helpful.

Do you think the learning content (multiple modules) provided in Microsoft learn for PL-300 certification is enough to pass the exam or should we be going through some other materials as well? Thanks!
@MattMike3 ай бұрын
I would take a course more focused on practical application after going through the Microsoft Learn modules. Those modules will take you most of the way there, but the test had some content more advanced than what Microsofts course covered. The course I recommend in the video is a great one!

Do you think getting 85+/100 in the practice assessment is enough to take the exam ? I noticed that exacty same questions Come back in you do the practice multiple Times.
@MattMike7 ай бұрын
Microsoft only recommends scoring 80 or higher, but I’d personally recommend at least 90. Even though there are lots of repeated questions between exams, the concepts are ones you’ll want to be very familiar with.
@tonymiller2255 ай бұрын
I scored about 85 in the practice exams and would whip thru them in 30 minutes as they often had repeated questions. The real exam bears little resemblance to the practice exams and took me the full 100 minutes to complete. It is geared to those with experience -and it is harder than the practice exams and contains more - digest this scenario then answer the question - rather than a a simple question then answer. My advice - get a good nights sleep before the test. I did it at a Pearson Vue Centre and you are checked over harder than airport security before entering the exam room. It is not a walk in the park and thus the exam has credibility

@@MattMike Hi, Could you please suggest which is the best channel to learn and expert in Microsoft power Bi?
@julsssssss45206 ай бұрын
Hello! I am a student trying to expand my skills on Power Bi and Python. I have never used Power Bi, but I want to learn and have a certificate on my LinkedIn to improve my curriculum. Would you recommend this exam?
@MattMike6 ай бұрын
I’d recommend this exam for anyone wanting to build credibility with use of Power BI It will be challenging if you don’t have working experience with the tool but it is possible. When I was studying, I read forums where other beginners to the tool were able to pass. Just keep in mind that it will be challenging so you’ll want to be extra prepared.

@MattMike3 ай бұрын
No, but I do think it is helpful in giving credibility to your proficiency in Power BI. It could help you stand out from competition, if even just a little bit (and sometimes that's all it takes).
@pontusrydstrom58693 ай бұрын
@@MattMike thank you for taking the time to answer 🙂 A Udemy degree combined with this degree then? Would that be enough you figure?
@MattMike3 ай бұрын
@@pontusrydstrom5869 It's not guaranteed. I'd like to offer an alternate perspective: Certifications do help, but they're not a silver bullet in the job hunt. They may stand out to some employers, maybe not for others. Take the course or exam for the knowledge gained and view the credential as a bonus. To get a job, you'll also need to have a solid portfolio, a good resume, and will need to interview well.

Hi Matt! I'd like to start by saying that I really enjoyed your content. I graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering, and after experimenting with my own projects and various industries for 2-3 years, I decided I wanted to become a data analyst. Therefore, I outlined a path for myself with the initial goal of obtaining the PL300 certification. To achieve this, I started taking courses offered by Microsoft on Coursera tailored for PL300. Additionally, within this framework, there are extra modules and courses such as ETL processes and capstone projects, which I'm also completing. What are your thoughts on this path during PL300 preparation? I'd also love to hear your thoughts on starting with the PL300 certification. By the way, I've also watched your videos related to becoming a data analyst. Thank you!
@MattMike8 ай бұрын
I think the Coursera course you mentioned for the PL-300 sounds like a great option! If you don't have professional experience with Power BI, then you are going to want those extra modules such as getting deeper into ETL and doing additional projects. I say keep going with it! I think starting with the PL-300 is fine too as long as you're willing to put in the work to really prepare and understand the tool, which it sounds like you are. You're gonna do great! Glad the content has been helpful!
