Are you sure about the Purina plant closing? I could swear I've smelled it recently.

I thought it closed. Thanks for bringing that up. I’m going to look into it and may have to post an update to the video.

@@BenFreemanHomes It looks like the OKC one closed, but not the Edmond one.

@@Jerry091864 ah, I see. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

I live one mile north of the Purina plant, and the air is thick with dog food smell.

@@ohyousooners I was mistaken about that plant closing.. it was a different one I was thinking of. I posted a correction video a couple weeks back. Thanks for the feedback.

EDMOND,OK may be a more expensive area and home prices are higher BUT for good reason - better infrastructure, better schools, FASTER police and utilities response times, LOW crime rates and people take care of their properties which means your property values will be protected. "Bumper to bumper traffic" to downtown OKC is not as bad if you are comparing to any metro area. 30 mins and under (usually less) for commute isn't bad if you are coming from Cali or back east. Public transit is not as great in Edmond but that's to be expected unless you are living in more densely populated areas like Dallas or NYC. It's definitely a more family-friendly area where kids can play outside without too much worry about crime and Edmond schools are one of the best in the country, just google. Most people live in Edmond and commute to work in OKC so you get best of both worlds. And Norman may have 'lower food prices' but seems Norman and Moore get quite a bit of Tornado activity so you been warned.

Thanks for the comment. I have multiple, previously-published videos on this channel speaking to the benefits of Edmond. I’m curious what your data source is on the tornado comment?

We just visited Oklahoma and traveled all through the Eastern half of the state going through many towns. Edmond was on our list to visit and honestly we were surprised that Edmond was rated so high in the places to live. We noticed to many people, to much congestion/traffic... We're from LA and this is exactly what we're trying to get away from. Higher housing costs and cost of living on top of that compared to other towns there doesn't help much either. It still seemed like a nice town, just not for us.

There's really nothing unique about Edmond that keeps tornadoes away from Edmond. If tornadoes haven't hit the Edmond area in the last few years, it's luck more than anything else. Moore got unlucky with the two big tornadoes that hit there years ago. I will admit that most tornadoes seem to hit South of the OKC as opposed to North of the city but Edmond is in no way immune and it's only a matter of time until it gets hit. According to some stats I've read, the town of Valley Brook, just north of Moore and just south of OKC is the most tornado prone area in the state when crunching all the weather data/numbers for Oklahoma, but most of OK is quite tornado prone.
