I never accept orders without tips and crazy low ball orders. If you order for delivery I feel no matter what, you should TIP. I always tip a minimum of $5 when I order my food. That shouldn't be anybody problem to do the same if you can order food for delivery , if not take your butt out and pickup yourself. 😉

@@real_Pinoy Yea, you are correct, but there are multiple factors which can cause a driver to be that late, and are totally out of their control. Have you thought those factors through before making this sarcastic/ ignorant comment? I'll name a few: 1. Car issues, ( from delivering to ungrateful people like you), 2. the restaurant is slammed or understaffed, 3. heavy traffic delays, 4. the app wants us the deliver multiple orders alongside yours, 5. your order keeps getting passed around due to people like you not tipping shit and drivers rejecting it over and over, further delaying it ( LOL ). These are just a few reasons, the list definitely goes on.

Right! If you dont want to go get your food at your own expense then wtf makes you think I want to deliver it for free.. Or even worse at my own expense! People in my city are awful about tipping. I'd say out of the 30 or so delivery notifications I get a day, only about 1/4 of them leave a tip. And half of the non tippers expect someone to drive 9.5 miles for $2.75?! The base pay for Doordash in my zone is $2.25 and you can deliver over 15 miles away. I'm not sure if they add anything for those long drives but I know they don't on shorter ones. If you do a $2.25 delivery and drive 2 miles out then 2 miles back, you've spent more on expenses than you've earned. People have some nerve
@Mercedessheppard04
@Mercedessheppard04 Жыл бұрын
Usually they add a bit more when it’s an astounding amount of miles (like 10 miles for $4) but sometimes they just don’t add more, and you could try by contacting doordash (they’ll only do it if it’s like 10 miles for $2.25) or something, they won’t do it for 7 miles for $2.25. In my area base pay is $4 and sometimes $5-$6 depending how far it is. So let’s say I get an order for $4 that’s taking me 16km away, I could contact doordash and most I’ll get added is probably $5, which still doesn’t make the order even close to worth doing. Or let’s say I get a $5 order for 8km, that would mean (not in all cases) my base pay is $5 and there’s no tip. I still don’t take those ones. And weirdly when I’m delivering to my house for my mom (she literally messages me before hand so I could get it 🤣) and the restaurant is like 1-2km away, I’ll get $5 instead of $4.

Maybe you aren't tipping properly. You have to consider the miles the driver is driving from the restaurant to your home and the amount of food you are ordering. Drivers will probably receive a fraction of the total you are paying so don't assume that the driver will get the full amount you paid.

@@josorto9505 If for an example my order is $40, then I tip $20 at the minimum. Always 50 percent at the least. So are you saying that drivers do not get the entire amount of the tip on the app? if we are cash tippers how do we let the drivers know beforehand so they know there is a tip just not on the app. I thought about putting the tip, lets use the previous example of an order total of $40, and then I will put $20 on the app, then when the driver brings the order I give them the $20 in cash and then adjust the tip to $0 on the app. What do you think?

@@aramissandoval59 I don't know if that would work or not, but the problem is that you are in the minority. You come across as a good customer that appreciates good service and that is great however the majority of customer just don't tip, period! Now that doesn't make them bad people its just that the math doesn't work for the drivers that depend on staying busy with at least 3 orders an hour. In most markets each order will take about 15-20mins each. So let's look at the challenges here: 1. Most of these apps hide the actual/full tip amount. So there is some guess work involved and some drivers don't bother gambling with there gas tank so they either decline the orders or try to take another order from a alternative delivery app to tack on, which of course will cause delays for the original order which causes bad customer service. 2. In the case of DoorDash, restaurants have options on how they participate on the platform. Orders that originate on the main platform cost restaurants up to 30% in commissions. But DoorDash also allows the restaurants to use the ordering software on their own sites for a fixed monthly cost. Those orders allows the restaurants to use their own employees to deliver the order but if they are overwhelmed or their employee is not available at the time, the restaurant can take that same order that they received directly from the customer and submit it to driver delivery platform where drivers can accept the delivery task but at this point since the restaurant is in full control of the order, they can strip out the tip and keep it for themselves and several do to cover the extra cost of changing the order to a DoorDash delivery. Now keep in mind that at this point the order is already delayed by a few minutes and the value of delivery to the driver is diminished due to the withdrawal or reduction of the original tip the customer offered. Now for those that disagree, YES of course not all restaurants "steal" the tips but its unfortunate that some due. Some may argue that DoorDash also steals tips but I believe that practice ended long ago when some local governments started regulating the industry. 3. The apps allow customers to adjust tips after the delivery and some abuse this option to tip well on the app in order to attract a driver but then adjust the tip after the delivery. That is called tip baiting and its rather common in some markets. In fact, there are videos all over the web teaching the general public about this technique. The only way this practice will stop is that the apps must require that the customer call the customer service department to request the removal of the tip and provide some explanation of why they are dissatisfied. Right now, all it takes is a few button clicks. 4. The apps need to share more of the delivery fees with the drivers. The base pay for an order in most markets is around $2 to $4 per delivery regardless of distance. A driver is not likely to take an order if the order isn't paying at least $1 per mile and many demand at least $2 per mile especially lately with $5 gas. And should also mention because its another very big problem, keep in mind that businesses are having trouble hiring people to work at these restaurants especially the fast food spots. This short staff results in very long wait times as well as long drive-thru lines. There is no pay for driver while they wait so the tip often becomes the only reason to accept the orders in the first place. This is a system problem and will only get fixed by a complete revamp of how things work as well as cultural change too. These are very challenging problems to fix. I see a major collapse already begin to happen. Many drivers are leaving the delivery apps every day. I believe we will be back to how it used to work before the pandemic. The app fees, gas, regulations, culture and many other factors are all to blame.

I'm no longer using Uber eats (or any food app for that matter), but I tipped AFTER my orders arrived and then based it on how friendly the driver was. If they are friendly and my order was correct I'd be more generous. A miserable driver would get a lower tip. It's called customer service, but honestly, if the pay is that bad get a different line of work. No one should work in an unsatisfactory job.

I genuinely don’t understand how we never come to the conclusion that Uber and Uber Eats are the ones at fault for drivers low pay. I genuinely want to know why drivers don’t just stop working for this multi million dollar company that’s paying out crumbs of the whole loaf of bread y’all bring back to them. How is the delivery fee between $0.49-$4.99 and drivers get like 5-10%? Why do drivers get a fraction of the profit from the food they just delivered? Why are we not asking UBER THE COMPANY THAT HIRED YOU AND RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR PAY THESE QUESTIONS. I genuinely don’t understand how we all understand that life is getting ever more expensive yet we never look at the main ones or “things” making the most out of the chaos???🤔🤔🤔 and I swear I really just want to understand. Is it easier to just use gullibility and empathy to our advantage? Or are we afraid to say something to the elephant in the room?

Why don't people stop ordering from them? 🙄 Why don't people stop working for minimum wage? Why don't people stop paying rent? Customers pay driver earnings whether it's through tips or through base pay. The minimum to clear expenses and make even a pitiful profit on a drive is higher than most people want to pay. So they make the base lower and pretend the tip is a separate thing. You can do whatever you want but I'm not bringing you food if you don't tip

@@no_peace Its really that simple. We all know that they're gonna still try to order their food without tipping because they're too lazy to go get the food themselves. Hoping a driver will still bring them their food in a timely manner. Several years ago you had to go get your food for takeout. They can easily go right back to doing that if they don't wanna tip the driver for doing something they don't wanna do

if people stopped ordering y’all won’t have no orders Uber eats changes or goes out of business and something else takes it’s place🤷🏽‍♂️ but if y’all stopped working for Uber Uber would change something if there’s still a demand for Uber eats specifically which there will be unless we point the finger at them. If people stopped paying bills or taxes society as we know it would fall apart. Those two are drastically different comparisons because Uber eats is not important and is not anybodies life line. Nobody NEEDS Uber eats. It’s a convenient option for consumers. Customers do not pay drivers unless they tip. customers pay Uber and Uber pays the drivers and the restaurant. So my whole point is that the company you can “be your own boss” in is essentially tricking you so you can do the heavy lifting while they play middle man. Uber is still in control here consumers are here to use options on the market not pay you personally for doing the job that you chose. We all pay companies and the companies pay their workers. Which a driver is a worker of Uber eats meaning take up the low wages with the ones paying you instead of guilt tripping so you can make a bit more money. It’s sad. Forcing people to feel bad for you because you chose a bad paying job or to just do it themselves because they don’t wanna cover the companies slack is not productive at all for any of us except uber eats. Drivers still get paid bait and customers pay even more for something that shouldnt be so high while uber shovels in the cake🤦🏽‍♂️it’s not personal it’s just business. 🤷🏽‍♂️IJS

Ya know what… I can really see how terrible people are by reading some of these comments 🤦🏽‍♀️.. no there isn’t a rule that says you HAVE to tip, but if someone is out in all kinds of weather, day or night driving 9 million miles just to deliver a meal that you ordered from a restaurant that’s another 9 billion miles away all because you did not or could not get it yourself for whatever reason, the least you could do is give a reasonable tip!… I mean it’s just sad because these apps will literally suggest a tip and the customer has THE NERVE to lower it down to the lowest of the low. That’s an insult and I’m not saying to make us rich but damn at least have some common sense to understand that you didn’t have to do anything but pick what you wanted and someone else is doing the leg work. Low pay is the fault of the delivery driver. One has to be a moron if they believe delivering food for Uber is worth while. Uber’s business model is one of exploitation. If you drive for them you are accepting the exploitation of yourself. Justify it anyway you want - what I’m saying is a fact. Each of you have your reasons for working for them, and I’m not knocking your reason. Regardless of your reason, you’re being exploited. Blaming Uber is like blaming the casino for taking your money. Accept UBER for what it is or go get a real job. In regards to tipping: all tips are a bonus. You’re wrong to expect them.
