some people gain stage all instruments to -18, then level but some people like Rio Leyva just level like you do. in 2024 I feel it's up in the air now, it doesn't matter.

fr, the beat will go through a sound engenier but its always nice to have knowledge

Yeah I agree but gain staging is not mastering , it helps each instrument from being in the mixer too hot , basically after that you level in the mixer . What he also does is weird is he turns the 808s too high to make crunchy beats people look for . To get the crunchy sound you turn up the gain in a clipper or the limiter .

The basics in mixing is great and fundamental. I use logic and mix similar as you do and keep my overall mix at -6. After that I’ll use logic’s AI mastering assistant. It’s truly phenomenal for a beat maker
