Regarding Omega being paired as a serious competitor Rolex; It is now talked about in the community that they will be releasing the Seasmaster spotted on Daniel Craig's wrist. The issue with that watch as a replacement for the current model is the bracelet, what does it say regarding their positioning next to Rolex? Because I can tell you that it does not sit next to Rolex having a bracelet like that. Has Omega decided to move in a different direction of differentiation? I may even answer my own question because it seems they already did that with the current Seamaster Professional because it was more approachable and tool like with the massive waves on the dial and exaggerated lume plots as well as hands!

Why is everyone so harsh with G.S, please try to understand that they have thrown Rolex under the bus when it comes to innovation: The Koto, have you seen their evolution 9 automatic and spring drive calibres? They came up with totally new calibres within a few years of the predecessor calibres. No one in the industry has done something this radical. I with my empty pockets went to my Patek AD in Lebanon and I asked when they were going to bring in G.S and this was 5 years ago, soon as the evolution 9 was released, yep, they are now A.Ds for G.S because the quality and innovation at this point is undeniable, they are now catering to elite watch collectors. Rolex has not done as much as G.S, however, yes, these limited editions are becoming played out and they are most likely losing consumer confidence when it comes to product exclusivity

It was about what can we sell you not what can we tell you? when did Hodinkee make a video or article about selling watches, they were always journalistic in their nature but as I explained more, it just lacked substance and Malika is a journalist shall I say that i a new form of diversification for the establishment, she is a fashion enthusiast and I am sure she doesn't even know what a valjoux 7750 or an eta 2824 is. Nothing wrong in doing market development but it has toe be clever.

Hodinkee has never stopped writing compelling stories about watches, and we mentioned that when specifically referencing our friend Mark who is there doing amazing work. They did however frequently publish articles or “blurbs” if you will about pre-owned watches hitting their site or reduced pricing. They also sent frequent emails doing such as well, which was outlined in Ben Clymer’s published note saying they would no longer do so. So no we aren’t saying hodinkee only focused on selling watches and stopped telling compelling stories, we’re only voicing the frustration that many fans have expressed and what they’ve admitted to by putting more emphasis on their preowned watch shop then their stories when trying to drive traffic to the site. We are happy that Ben and team are excited about putting emphasis on storytelling again.

@@SuperNicheStudios The issue in the watch community is that we cannot find balance, either it is all fun or all business. Hodinkee is a business, it is not a charity, therefore, sending email to generate sales isn't out of the ordinary. I get emails from craft and tailored and I get super excited to see what he has on sale. We get upset when Omega gives Daniel Craig a watch to put on his wrist, marketing as existed in the watch space since forever. I have no issues with Hodinkee selling watches as far as it is done ethically.

This whole state of the market thing from a true consumers point of view is kind of silly. Really what’s going on s that the market was so stupid and dumb based on everybody feeling like A. the world was gonna end, B. Oh shit, I just got some free money from somewhere let me put it into crypto, watches, NFT‘s or something else. Now the market is softened but if you still want a desirable dial datejust or GMT from Rolex and you have to go grey you’re going to pay somewhere between 5 to 10k over sticker and that beyond annoying. And don’t get me started on AP where the cheapest 37mm watch sells retail for like 28k retail and the cheapest one on Chrono 24 is 41k. Basically, all we keep being pushed by the Grey market dealers is that the market is softening because they want you to think it’s a good time to buy and they want the people that are trying to flip them watches to think that the days of premiums are over so I am paying you just above list or Below! The thing I’m the most interested in is why are there over 400 37mm 38mm 39,, brand new unworn 2023 or 2024 Royal Oaks on Chrono 24 alone! All you hear is all the nonsense about how these brandsvet each person that that buys one yet all these watches end up on the grey market. Its preposterous.
