Despite the limitations we were given, both practically and narratively, and although our weekend shoot was brief, Cybolica is a labor of love from every cast and crew member, and I am forever grateful for their time and effort spent bringing this word to life with me. In my mind, Cybolica was always intended to be a proof of concept for a larger storyline about an apocalyptic world where abandoned incarcerated youth are used for government purposes, no matter how inhumane. Who are the real monsters? My hope is that this short film can serve as a gateway into the larger narrative that needs to be told.

***Spoilers*** Meh, the story was definitely unique (the good), but the same old Hollywood tropes were rehashed (the bad). Lastly, the actors did not act remotely surprised to wake up in a bloody room or when they saw the creature (the ugly). It could’ve been great with its fresh plot and good visuals, unfortunately the acting didn’t sell the atmosphere. 🫤

Personally I think the best touch to this by far. Was when the creature saw the X, before and after that moment it's eyes are hidden in the shadows, null and void. But once it saw the mark, it's eyes were revealed kinda human like, and it had a moment of confusion.

An interesting idea. The juvenile justice system needs reform and the idea that we see these youth (many whose only crime is that they are part of CPS and have no parent support) as disposable is a frightening thought. I would really like to see this explored in a series. Bravo to the creator, writer, director, cinematographer and this team. An amazing junior thesis project. Looking forward to this being developed.

This is some grade A horror presented. Experimenting on fellow man is a terrifying proposition. The incarcerated are easily forgotten. Take these two elements and you get a horror film like this and a story of how far would you go to survive. The monster looked fantastic and had a tragic element especially when the others realize their fate was awaiting that This has a lot of potential and I wish it had been longer. Great work to all involved as it was tense and gripping. Peace.

As a biological scientist (who would make an excellent addition to the SCP foundation), I always frown when I see such dirty working environments. It adds such a huge array of uncontrolled variables to experimental outcomes and makes the experiment impossible to replicate accurately. However, if it was more a psychological experiment SET UP to look like a medical one, then I could understand. Also, I had a moment where I thought "Why TF are there random hammers in drawers in an operating roo... OOOHHHHHH right, okay, never mind - it took me a moment to realize that it's perfectly logical for the setting. That place would be a treasure trove of weapons of opportunity.
