My God! A combination of a folk/ western/horror short film in 1880? And religion is on the play? This was already a done deal but, i did not expect to keep my hand on My chest the entire film! Felt straight like a 2 hour film, i am beyond amazed by how much thought was put into each part of it. BRAVO! 🎉🎉🎉💯💯💯💯

That was absolutely amazing- Alter quality at its finest. The acting was award worthy and the camera work just added to the intensity. I loved the little clue you gave us about the demon when he asked what language the women were speaking, but smiled when one of them answered back in Norwegian that English was the Devil’s language. Of course he understood what she was saying as Demons speak ALL LANGUAGES!!!!! This is one I’ll remember and pass on. Thank you!!

She invited evil in. That was my first thought as he stood at the threshold and looked down. Did he smirk? Evil wanders and takes souls. You can't trust anyone anymore. Nice, straightforward story. That's how I love horror. Edit:Oh yes and we learned: Demons (or the devil) speak English...

The Devil will always seek us out when we are the most vulnerable, as in our faith. Liv meant well, but doubted in her grief. Through the wilderness came the Outcast in his weakened and haunted state from traveling. As Ada was stricken with a physical disease that left an opening for the darkness to enter, Ingrid made a difficult choice clouded by despair without Liv's discernment. Ingrid's fate is tragic, and her strength alone was not enough. She will now have her day of reckoning as her faith is tested further. Hauntingly authentic and superior in its creation, this is an amazing tale of the trials of life and how we choose to cope. Bravo!! 🌹❤️
@lisathesupergremlin773111 ай бұрын
The vulnerability of women in that time is a horror in itself. Dare I ask what happened to their father, husbands and brothers. They're all definitely of marrying/ child bearing age. Something horrid happened long before this disaster.
@hilaryc32039 ай бұрын
The idea of a devil is so humans can avoid looking at themselves and taking accountability for their own actions and decisions. That is all. However, it is a thoughtful fantasy story for entertainment purposes and that's always fun.
@hilaryc32039 ай бұрын
@@lisathesupergremlin7731 I surmise that the graves were that of their parents as the sister is also stricken. The one sister is afraid of contagion, so..disease and judging from the sister's pustules on her face it was likely Smallpox. Brothers? Not every man sires sons. Also, it was customary for women to remain with their parents until they married or died (unless they took up a position), and having immigrated to north america and took land out in the middle of nowhere, there were no extra men laying about to be picked. Also, many women back then decided not to marry because they wanted to live longer lives. There was a high rate of mortality in childbirth so they would become teachers or nurses etc, take up domestic service if they did not have the ability for a higher education, and live long, contented lives.
@Witness038 ай бұрын
@hilaryc3203 Excellent summation of the emotions and tragedies of mankind; how they're intertwined. Yes. We are all too used to the blame game. Taking accountability would lead us to our spirtual growth and harmony that we are meant to live in. However, to not recognize there exists a realm that is unseen, holding even darker beings who value our lives so much that they interfere to be us or intervene to help us, is folly. There is darkness within and without.
@hilaryc32038 ай бұрын
@@Witness03 Energy exists in all life; religious people don't like to hear about it, but the energy levels can be seen with advanced technology and there is the possibility that energy will continue. Energy. Not a god, not jesus, but energy as identified by science. However, there is no realm of darker beings. There is no proof, and no logic to that belief which comes from the imagination of silly humans.

It is rare to find such quality in a short film. You're lucky to find one in 15, maybe 20 that are professional quality. A big salute to Astrid and all those responsible for this production. It is Impressive in every sense, damn near flawless. A clinic on how to make cinema quality horror without a big production budget. Most importantly, the actors were extremely talented. They all possessed the ability to make you a believer... Without talented actors, it doesn't matter how much you spend, how well written the script is or how well you execute all other aspects of film making. The acting talent on display here was a treat. Everything else was an added bonus: Story / Script Directing Cinematography Sound / lighting, etc- All top notch. Everyone did their part, every aspect complimented the fantastic performances the actors put on. Thank you for the rare short film that leaves one thoroughly entertained and satisfied. I hope the artists responsible for this work get the recognition and careers they deserve.

There're 03 things that blown my mind during this movie: 1st - the whistle. Elderly people always warned me about whisling at night. It atracts the wrong kind of attention and that's how we could know that it was there. 2nd - How the director managed to give us signs of the plot twist. "It moves", how did Liv knew? And poor ana was sick again. Whatever it was inside her, was gone by the time she threw up again. 3rd - it was too coincidence to be truth. It knows how to manipulate us through our desires. We must always stay careful. Awesome!

The narrative prowess exhibited in this short story featured on Alter is nothing short of an artistic triumph. The narrative architecture, intricately woven with a captivating plot, not only captivates the audience but also eclipses the narrative twists commonly associated with the acclaimed M Night Shyamalan. The mastery with which suspense is cultivated and sustained, the judicious application of nuanced colour grading that augments the atmospheric resonance of the piece, the superlative quality of the acting performances, and the meticulous calibration of the narrative pace collectively converge to render an unparalleled cinematic experience. BRAVO to Astrid and her team!
