I've been collecting watches for quite a few years and given some away to family and sold a few to close friends. I've considered selling some,and your information is very helpful ! Thanks for the advice ! 👍❤

This happened to me also. But eBay sent the buyer the money for the watch that I was selling him. And the buyer sent me a broken ladies watch back. So he got my money and my Ferrari watch!! and I walked away with nothing and eBay didn’t help very frustrating!

Hi Chris, I learned tomething when when I was studying for for my real estate license which applies for most purchases. We gain or lose on the front end. Example, I just purchased a GS sbgm221. If I would have paid retail or more for it I can never recoup that extra money that I paid. TIt applies even to Rolex or other desirable watches. Yes, we may make money at the sale but if we paid $1000 more then it's worth that money is gone forever. Love your videos.

Great advice! I think long and hard before I buy another watch(I get anxious having too many watches)! I’m way in the black with my Rolex pieces which might make up for my many losses. I just plan on losing money 💵 on watches but only buy what I really love. 😎

I describe it as best as I can get the best photos I can and I list it as is no returns. I also mention I am not a watchmaker and that I have seen item in working condition but because it is sold as is no warranty no returns and I am not watchmaker, you will receive watch as stated in non returnable condition. I have done well with it.

Good advice, the thing you hint at, but don't say directly is a key component of buying and possibly selling a watch is getting a good price on the initial purchase. If you just pay retail, you're gonna get killed when you sell. I haven't sold any (yet), but I typically see what the model I am looking at is selling for before I push the button to buy. Also, it depends on timing; I've got a few watches that I bought 20+ years ago that are worth much more than I would have anticipated, but then again I have others that are worth much less! Best advice is to buy what you like and don't worry about resale.

Great video! I fully agree with everything you said, except one thing: i do not agree with the fact that you need to accept the return of a watch someone bought from you after 4 MONTHS. Longest scenario can be 1 week, because common, it’s not necessary for you to wear a watch for 4 months in order to “get used to it” that’s bs for me. If someone would come to me after 3 or 4 months and wants his money back, i would tell him that i’ll buy it for 50-70 cents on the dollar, especially if it’s in bad condition, or not in the exact same condition as i sold it to him. And this is the case if a watch is worth up to 10k. If we are talking about APs or high end rolex models, like some day dates, or daytona’s, which are in a market that changes daily, clearly not….other than that, keep up the good work and stay safe!

I might be mis-understanding what you said about PayPal's return policy, but if I'm not -- who would ever keep a watch longer than 6 months!!? Just return it for a full refund and buy another brand new! 😂 (I'm not actually supporting this activity, just highlighting how ridiculous the policy sounds)

What if I’m not buying the watch? What if I’m selling the watch to another business or person? While it’s still in the ownership of another business? Basically just bring the middleman and taking the profit off the top, the listed price for the dealership likely is already profiting if so they’ll usually don’t mind if you can get a sale off on a piece that they’d been wanting to get sell, for instance I’m currently selling a 1976 Day date 18038, the dealer price is 13,950, I’m offering to sell it for 14,200, the highest end usually sells for 14,950 so this leaves potential profit for whoever buys and sells the piece.

Great video and excellent advice. A lot of sellers on forums such as WUS have great feedback, yet often state that they don’t offer returns. However, I assume they must have to take returns if the watch is delivered to the buyer damaged and if standard PayPal (not F&F) was used for the purchase. As a forum or Instagram seller, should you explicitly state that you take returns or only offer them if the Sh*t hits the fan?

Interesting. But no, for me, it's the movements and a good looking watch on top. Why I picked up the Farr & Swit Wayfinder, and BTW it turned up, and it is glorious. The Lume lasts all night and is readable (that's how I test lume if I can still read it in the dark in the morning before I get up). Two more to get something with a Miyota in it and a Seagull. Not interested in the high-end stuff, I would be too worried to wear it in public, and that's no fun. Most of this comment is basically for YT Algorithm. Though I could tell you about camera gear (:

Good guidelines (don't like rules). I buy all my watches with the expectation of keeping them. With that said, I've sold over 400 since 2011. About 375 I have owned for 3+ years. I don't sell for profit or to break even. I have someone that sells them for me. All I do is provide him with a spreadsheet with the details, condition of the watches & what I'd like to sell them for. I price them lower than others are selling the same item for in order to have a quick sale. I've literally made a profit (for me) on no more than 50 of those watch sales. I DON'T CARE. That's the price I pay for buying online without seeing the item first in a brick & mortar store. In many cases had I seen & examined in a store, I would not have pulled the trigger. I feel for you on that bogus return. I had a similar situation on one of my sales. It was a Seiko Kinetic. The buyer returned it stating the rotor hold down screw came out. Refunded the buyer. When it was came back, we compared the back of the watch with the photo in the listing. The caseback had been removed. The power cell had been swapped. WTF 😠
@a_z.tazzzfan84973 жыл бұрын
@PrimeVids As far as that transaction; nothing as eBay sides with the buyers. I ended up buying a new power cell, taking it to a jeweler to install it and give the case & bracelet a thorough cleaning/polishing. Listed & sold it a month later for about $35 more than what the bogus buyer paid to a completely satisfied buyer. Since I'm a regular customer for the jeweler, I got a decent discount on the services, so my additional $$ loss on the final sale was palatable.
