Not just on the basis of price, but after seeing all of the thinnest watches I'd prefer the Citizen EcoDrive 1. A very clean, traditional look. In addition, having an EcoDrive on a Citizen ProMaster, I find I like the movement and the whole idea of not having to replace a battery periodically.
@docskeekmo2 жыл бұрын
Thoroughly fantastic content! Good on Citizen for the Eco-Drive One for costing less then the buckle on any of the others!! And brilliant the way you made a 20 minute video without a single in studio moment of watch video content without losing anything in the quality of the video. This may be your best video of this type to date! As a reward, each of you gets an RM ultra thin watch, a ski mask and black rubber gloves. You need to use the gloves and ski mask to acquire the watches, but once you get past that bit and avoid capture, you each have a $1.75 million dollar trinket to flog about with.

Money aside, (obviously) I think the Piaget is the best looking, and possibly the most wearable of the bunch. The Bulgary is attractive because they built it on an actual bracelet, but the NFT nonsense spoils it. I'll never understand why they did that. Such an odd choice for this watch.

Citizen had some of the thinnest mechanical watches, too. Not only quartz watches. Citizen Diamond Flake was the thinnest watch with traditional 3 hands in the world in 1962. The movement was 2,7 mm, which sound thick compared to watches in this list, but remember, materials back then were not that advanced. Acrylic glass was thick, if they had sapphire, the watch would probably be thinner even. Not to speak about the rest of materials and additional seconds hand. That alone would eat up few millimeters from overall thickness. I think, to this day, Diamond Flake is the thinnest Japanese mechanical watch. They beat Seiko in that department, and a lot of Swiss Made watches, too.

It depends on how much money you have left after purchasing one of these watches. We are imagining, right? So why not thinking to an arab prince with a almost infinite amount of money in his pocket? I mean several billions of U$. Would you still keep them in a box?
@kaypee19722 жыл бұрын
Not only great engineering but some also great design. But if you include Quartz watches (wow, that Citizen is a beauty) would be fair to mention, that Bulgari has with Octo Finissimo the thinnest automatic wrist watch, which compared to these prices is quite affordable for approx. 15.000€ with a stunning design and ultra nice & comfortable bracelet also extra thin buckle.
@tarquesh2 жыл бұрын
Brought with humor, i’d enjoyed the duo review. With my thick Baumatic on my wrist it is amazing to see thin movements. I do not know if you both did a video of the thickest bulky watches in industry? Omega Seamaster 6000m ultra deep, MB&F Mad, the buildings for the wrist.

Bulgari: We shall make 10 super exclusive pieces. RM: we shall make 150 pieces at several times the price of the Bulgari, but still call it super exclusive. The RM looks horrid compared to the Piaget and Bulgari.

One of the most underrated and undervalued ultra-thin watches is; the Seiko CDF020 with the cal 6810 movement. Can often be bought under 1500 USD and has a 4.4mm thick case, making it the 10th thinnest mechanical watch ever made.

You might be interested in checking out Concord next time you're looking at unusual watches. They are an outlier in the watch world, they were a Swiss company, which is now an American one, where as most American watch brands still making watches, like Hamilton or Ball or even Bulova are owned by Swiss or Japanese companies. Once they were brought by the American Watch Company in the early 70s, they went with the Quartz Crisis, instead of trying to carve out a niche against it, and in the later 70s and early 80s, came out with a line of extremely thin watches which, at the height of their success, were marketed by places like Tiffany & Co, and competed directly against Rolex, with great success. They were luxury ultra thin well before almost anyone else was doing it, and doing it in quartz before the Japanese really flew with it too. Probably very hard to find any examples these days, but they were, at the time, in the North American market at least, watches that were seen as being something as luxurious an iconic as the most esteemed Swiss luxury watches.

The Concord Delirium was the world's thinnest watch in 1979 at 1.98mm and later 1.5mm (Quartz movements, priced at $4,400). They were sold through Tiffany and were battling with Seiko at the time for the honor of the world's thinnest. They are now part of the Movado group, with the watches mostly made in China (a few of their watches carry the Swiss Made wording).
@Apis42 жыл бұрын
@@johnmagnussen917 Yeah, though I believe they were, cannot say if still, looking at putting a line of US made high end mechanical watches on the market, based on a limited edition concept, with in-house movements, made domestically . Not sure if that's a thing now, but recall hearing it a ways backs. Though I recalled hearing the estimated prices, too, and thinking it .....ambitious...an idea. So who knows if it is ever happening.

The RM is not a complete watch… It needs external tools to function, which means they made something thin, by removing critical and essential parts of the watch, rendering it useless without. The complete size therefor need to take this tool into the calculation when talking about size of the watch. So, all being said and done, the OF is the thinnest watch in the world, as this is a stand alone function unit. Also… the OF has much less volume than the RM. In short, the OF blows the RM out of the water.
