I think the only real reason why this episode isn't in my top ten least favorite episodes of the entire series is because this episode only made me feel uncomfortable, whereas most of the episodes in my list have made me angry. But this was a great review. You have good chemistry. That part when Bliss practically hypnotized you with the rainbow was sweet in the moment and funny afterwards.

This was a fantastic episode, I'm ok with people not liking it. It had great comedy, great nods to the fans both from the positive and negative opinions on the show itself and a great moral about nothing is perfect, things have flaws especially when it comes to the characters and the Flawless song demonstrates that. That moral is a moral that people could take to heart, and they should appreciate something whether it is good or bad. It is one of my favourite episodes out of the entire series, as I enjoyed this episode a little more than slice of life ^^ I give it a 9/10 ^^
@violetpencil96147 жыл бұрын
Rosie Sievers Personally did not like the episode myself and I respect your opinion. Personally I think the episode would’ve came off fine if one thing was changed... The ending... why did only have to be to little girls. They should’ve had it and with a small group of supportive ponies of all genders and ages. I think the reason why Lauren Faust didn’t like how the episode came out is because of that ending it makes it seem like it say that... for lack of a better term... that all the viewers aren’t little girls shouldn’t question some of the morals in the episodes, have opinions on them, and shouldn’t be watching the show to begin with. And he knows well that the show is supposed to and dose bring people together.
@TheRiddleMan-ci7hi4 жыл бұрын
Rosie Sievers What I find to be really terrible about The Fame & Misfortune episode is when Ponyville argued that the mane six are real which doesn't work when complaining about the criticisms of this show. I never liked the episode One Bit because The way Ponyville acted was Just awful. I get it, they aren't the way you would want them to be, but that still doesn't give them the right to act like that, especially considering how much they have done to protect Equestria. Another reason why I found the Fame & Misfortune episode to be absolutely awful because Not only was it horribly written, it also made Ponyville, The LITERAL Hometown The Mane 6 protected since the beginning of the show, into complete Idiotic and heartless morons. The way Ponyville treated them after what they've done to protect Equestria it came across to me as petty and incredibly immature, which are the two traits that describe the writers for making this episode. The writers were pretty stupid to go like "Yeah, let's dedicate an entire episode towards taking jabs at the fandom that made your show go far beyond typical "KiD's ShOw syndication" I am not saying the fandom was the sole reason but my points are still valid. There are a lot of Bad MLP Episodes, but the episode Fame & Misfortune took the title with ease. It also felt like A stupid Teen Titans Go! episode trying to make its critics look like idiots. I'm not that much of A fan of M.A. Larson's work, but he did NOT deserve to get screwed over here, and the fact that he was forced to write the episode makes me question Hasbro a lot. I found it to be a staple of the pride and hubris of the later show-runners.

I think Blissy hit on the head saying that the reason we review the series in the first place is out of love for it, because we want it to improve, and this episode is basically presenting that as something negative. It misses the point that good reviewers DO focus on the themes and the morals, and we critique them because we want them to be taught better.

2:11 (HAS HEART ATTACK FROM BLUSHING RAINBOW PONY!) call.....9-1-1.....STAT! ((Edit)) perfection: my personal definition: a word that represents the best of you and the worst. Becoming you.
@Midnight3Wonder7 жыл бұрын
I became so angry and frustrated when I saw those ponies gang up on Fluttershy. True, I was initially angry because Fluttershy is my favorite character and was being picked on. However, upon further viewing their issue with Fluttershy, I became more angry for what they were angry at Fluttershy for. As someone who has anxiety issues and knows what it's like to not be confident in themselves despite all you've been through and everyone who's given you support, I know that the Fluttershy lessons aren't something you can face just once and instantly get over. It takes a lot of time and practice to finally build up confidence when you have troubles with it. Especially if you've had a bad history of your confidence being crushed over and over again. I was always bullied no matter where I was or how old I got. From bullies at school to my own sister. I was always an easy target for bullies as I was always very sensitive and took everything to heart, easily made to cry or upset when the right buttons were pushed. And they were pushed a lot. As for with my sister, she's the complete opposite of me and has a lot of confidence in herself. Due to an incident when we kids, I was always afraid of hurting my sister and so she was easily able to push me around. I never felt right standing up for myself when we were younger because I felt like I was being rightfully punished for the incident that really wasn't my fault but I still felt guilty for. For the few times I was able to stand up for myself when she pushed me just a little too harm, I ended up saying these horrible things that made me hate myself for saying them because it was just as bad as being a bully myself. Luckily, I've learned to better stand up for myself but I still have a long ways to go before I can ever consider myself to be a confident person. Having been bullied for so long really took its toll on me growing up so that I have very little confidence to this day. I never really did well in school back when I was just a little kid as I had a disability that made it difficult for me to learn like everyone else and none of my teachers were able to teach me the way I needed to be. Couple that with little to no athletic skills and I was practically a loser to all the kids. The only time I was able to stand out as a star student was in art class, the one thing I was talented in and was confident about, even if I do still get a little shy from time to time and try to only let my work be shown when I feel truly confident about it or want someone's opinion on it. There were times when the kids would actually stop working on their projects just to watch me work and my teachers used my work as an example of a job well done! However, there were times when my classmates who I teamed up with would actually use my talent to boost themselves and take credit even when they had done no work themselves. This nearly became a major issue during my first year of high school for my first big group project. I ended up doing all of the work we were supposed to do as a team but I was too scared to say anything about it. It was only when my mom came to drop off some supplies I ended for the project at school and saw that I was the only one working on it that something was done (she actually went to talk to my teachers herself about the matter while I was unable to stop her because I had little time left to finish up the project and I was the only one working on it). I got full credit for the project while my "partners" got in trouble. I felt pretty bad about it because I was really good friends with one of them but at the same time I know that they got what they deserved. I quickly built up a reputation as the "goody-two-shoes" of the school and everyone knew it. Just about everyone teased me about this but it was usually in a playful way that made me feel good about myself. However, there were some who took advantage of this and bullied me for being so different from everyone else. I did manage to learn how to defend myself more while in high school and even became the talk of the school on several occasions when I did something daring and unexpected of me from a funny joke to burned one of our teachers when he had it coming to getting rid of the worst bully the school ever had. Looking back on it, I've come a long way from being the shy little girl who always hid in the back in Elementary school to being a high school hero. Yet, after everything I've been through, I'm still not confident in myself and it shows. I'm even having troubles finding a job because I can't present myself as being confident enough in an interview even if they job would be perfect for me and I give it my best. Watching Fluttershy get ganged up on for her lack of confidence despite everything she's managed to accomplish simply because she had to learn how to overcome her issues more than once really reminded me of everything I've had to face and overcome even I had to learn the same thing over and over again. I know how difficult it is and so it makes me angry to see people get mad at someone for that. Confidence may be easy for some, but for others it can be really hard to obtain. I want to be more confident but I know it's something that'll take time for me. Either because it's not something I can chase after whenever I please or I fear that I will gain too much confidence at once to the point I became no different from those who made it all the more difficult for me to get that confidence. To much confidence leads to arrogance and I don't want that. I want to remain humble about myself but also feel a bit of pride when I manage to accomplish a goal. I know I've already said it before but I'll say it again: that kind of confidence takes time and practice. Fluttershy's lessons, although the same, show different kinds of confidence and ways to obtain it. The episode "Putting Your Hoof Down" shows what happens when you get too carried away with something, something I unfortunately had to learn myself long before I saw the episode. Meanwhile, the episode "Filli Vanilli" taught us that you have to be willing to take risks but it's okay to take baby steps to that goal. It's the same lesson of gaining confidence through different methods. There is more than one way to learn something and it can take a while to find the way that best method for you. It can take years to find that method that works just right for you. Fluttershy episodes really helped me through this and has been great motivation for me. Thinking about it, it was when I started watching MLP that I noticed my confidence growing significantly and it's all because of Fluttershy. Others may be annoyed with Fluttershy episodes, but I honestly can't get enough of them because they are that helpful to me. I know I'm not alone in this so which is why I became so angry during that scene in "Fame And Misfortune". We sometimes need those lesson repeats because there are some many ways to execute them. Like I said before, I always learned a bit differently than everyone else. So having so many different ways of learning the same lesson is very helpful and something I am thankful for. And there's nothing wrong with that!

This actually helped me see this episode in a new perspective. It was difficult to see a different message this episode was giving and when I first watched it I thought it was a harsh jab towards the fandom just because we have different perspectives and thoughts. I didn’t get that moral that was originally meant to be given and I felt that they were trying to say the show was only meant for little girls and that Hasbro didn’t like the brony fandom anymore. Thank you for showing me this different view on an episode that had me so confused and upset.

Oy, the rage I went through when Twilight got her wings. Even to this day, when that episode is mentioned, a little ounce of that rage comes back, but I calm down afterward. T'was a dark time season 3 created. A dark time indeed. Took me, I say, months to get used to it. *shrugs* I did when it was revealed Twilight was still Twilight. I mentally slapped myself for being so silly and dramatic. But looking back at the episode again, it still makes me mad. Why? it's a list too long to say. Plus, I don't want to reopen old brony wounds. lol

Okay, jumping ahead in my process here but always happy to share my thoughts where I can. In regards to this episode I think it was a two way street that not only revealed the negatives of the fandom but also the negatives of the company and staff itself. Mostly on how some artist and writers will usually go to any lengths to appease the fandom no matter what the cost is. Then there's more devilish side of the fandom. Or more specifically, the side comprised of the most picky, inconsiderate, single-celled amoebas that make up the horse waste of the fandom. Mainly those who tend overlook the positives in an episode and dive directly at the negatives or what they think was done wrong. I admit that I've done that to my fair share of episodes in my own blog reviews but at the same time I also save some space to at least go over what I think the lesson was and how it can impact the fans. As for the ending, I think it serves a purpose to let most content creators know that it's not about appeasing the masses. As long as you can help one single soul in this bleak fandom then in a way you've done your job and then some. Thanks for reading and remember, KEEP CALM AND BRONY ON!! PEACE!! -Culture Shock

I loved this episode. I appreciated the meta nature of it and found the jabs at the fandom funny, not degrading. Lines like “Twilight was better before she had wings” and “Are Pinkie Pie and Applejack related or what?!” had me laughing up a storm Also, I joined the fandom at the start of season 7, so this episode gave me the chance to exclaim “LARSON!!!” to a relevant episode

I HIGHLY agree with Lily Peet's review of this episode, long ago. Specifically toward the moral of it. While it IS true no one is perfect and it's important to accept one's flaws. Some should still be able to at least, TRY and work past those flaws. In this case; while in some ways, I can understand. I agree with how Fluttershy learns the same "overcoming her fears" lesson repeatedly and hasn't become a stronger pony yet; because of it. Like her fear of Nightmare Night, a fear I STILL find silly and unfounded

I personally really liked this episode...it was a huge wake up call to the negative perspectives I’ve had on Rainbow Dash and Rarity... It helped me see I was unfairly judging them and granted they’re characters, not real, they aren’t flawless...if a character was meant to be flawless, they would be the most boring character. Example: my favorite character in the whole universe is Phineas Flynn...and I love him to bits...I understand he has flaws...I don’t even see him as flawless...matter of fact I wish there were episodes of Phineas and Ferb that explored Phineas’ flaws like his obliviousness or maybe some of his fears and weaknesses... Most of the ‘exploring flaws and fears’ episodes we got focused on Candace...and I don’t like that. The show focused wayyyy too much on Candace that we never got to see anything really...soul searching for Phineas-his fears, his insecurities, how he feels about certain things. It just...would have been nice to see those sides of Phineas in the show I’m at a point where I’ve made headcanons to some of his fears and insecurities and I LOVE writing stories like this because I like seeing characters and their flaws explored Anyway I’m getting off topic...anyway I used to really dislike Rainbow Dash for being so cocky and Rarity for being so stuck up...but seeing this episode made me realize that makes them who they are...and getting over some of those flaws in some episodes just makes me super happy. Long story short, I really liked this episode and the song (easily my fav song from this season) despite what some bronies say... Some say this episode puts mlp on a pedestal above criticism and is a big ol ‘fuck you’ to the fandom...but I don’t see it that way... I see it as a slight ‘yo, calm down’ wake up call...not a fuck you...just a slight ‘calm down and realize these are pastel ponies with flaws’ I LOVED fluttershy’s part. It’s so HUMAN! You think I’ve gotten over a flaw and learned my lesson not to do things like that after one time? Filly, PLEASE, I still haven’t learned my lesson about overspending on iTunes Like you, Blissy, I put myself in the position of the mane 6 and maybe that’s why I like this episode...because it shows what the mean criticisms and such can do to people... And Silver Quill pointed out a particular moment in the episode that was exactly me-the fluttershy fan who backed away as another pony was so harshly judging her. I’ve had so many things that I like and others don’t and their criticisms have made me feel bad for liking them...so I really connected with that poor fluttershy fan... Good god this comment was longer than I expected...and probably won’t even get read but I just had to speak my mind lol

HOW R U NOT FAMOUS BLISSY AND EVEYPONY ELSE IN THE COMMUNITY
@redemption27 жыл бұрын
Ok. On this one I have to fire a bit of a rebuttal. Bliss, I understand why you dislike the term "horse famous" I hate it too. But aware of it or not you are a very important part of the community. You're involved in more projects than I can count and you may have the most collabs of any analyst. Your work is valuable, but you also have said many times over how stressful your life is. I, as a fan and friend, am worried that if I approach, I'll add to that stress. In addition you talked once about how some fans amp up the cringe factor unconsciously. In the back of my mind I'm always thinking that I might be acting cringey, and that I should probably leave before I overstay my welcome. At least for me, and I doubt I'm the only one, when it comes to approaching you, it's not about you being famous, it's about my own self worth.

OMG, you did a collab with Lightning Bliss? THAT'S REALLY COOL! But, in all seriously, it was a great collab, even though I don't like this episode. It's not one of the worst I've seen from the show, but it killed my interest of more meta episodes. But regardless, I enjoy this collab review.

It was a mixed episode for me. There were some things I'd change (have the insufferables in the crowd be tourists rather than Ponyvillians, and AJ, Sweet Apple Acres just became a tourist attraction -- make some bits!), but it also made me laugh out loud a couple times, which doesn't happen a lot.

Two little fillies? Oh, you mean the intended real demographic. Yeah, in the end, if the show works for them hasn't it done what it's actually supposed to? ^_^

I think that this was a pretty bad idea. Bronies are known for their sentimental nature and alienating them like this can only result in people leaving. One big thing that many took from it, though I don't think they intentioned that was that they were wrong to become invested in MLP. After all becoming invested in something means you feel hurt when mocked for it. The show can carry a weight for many people and they will feel betrayed when the show mocks them for it.

DUDE... small towns in texas are awesome. WHy the small town of Zorn may have less than 1000 people but its a great town blissy, Also I would not mind an episode for what bronys go through as fans....I use a pony avatar on steam, I switch out with the mane six.... THE STUFF I GET CALLED .... I had to go find my thick skin suit quick ... You know if all those fans in fame and misfortune were treated like trash by every other pony they interact with ... That would be realistic. BUt Im dusty katz / firebrand kind of guy. SO fortunately I can take weak jabs with ease and counter punch heavy jabs like a boss but that's not what I want to do... I just wanna be able to say I like a thing with out being ostracized and/or belittled for liking said thing. I love the pony show, it is funny and fun most of the time sometimes it moves the feels like perfect pear(favorite episode)... Then when others find out I like the pony show oh boy... I got get my big boy pants on real quick because I know the venom is coming. It would of been nice if they focused on what fans sometimes have to suffer for being fans. And we remain fans in spite of the jeers and savage name calling and just out right awfulness that people can sometimes be.

Given "Recent Events," I'm glad our guy here forwent a top hat or such so we can see at the least his OC is a Unicorn and not a 'horn having' Pegasis _if you get what I meme?_ ;''3 (or a group going to one kinda 'red and black' OC from another after leaving) Either way here's hoping you've not been given too much grief from less "Watchful" ponies and the likes, who simply see Blissyboos in a vid with a kinda Red & Black OC guy, eh? _/)'glhf_ (not sure if herd your name around from FNGR, but I'll sub) Just please don't say you're planning on doing another "Cartoonz Saga," as we really don't need that clique more than already been being done to death eh? (your call ma dude but such are my 2 cents)

*As for the "Moral" of the Episode vs the "Moral" of the Review...* We must try and remember a very key and critical point here: _Not All Opinions, Analysis or "Critique" are Created Equally._ And in turn it is that negative overly toxic 'bad criticism' kind of Critique that is being highlighted along with being made fun of here if also to a point in "Spice up your Life." (ie, the sort of "Critic" who cares nothing for ideas or opinions if it's not _THEIR_ opinion ideals) That kind of doing and being by every bit deserves the mockery it gets. *8:25** Key point, "HOW you share it," to a point.* Such being in large part the issue in large people have with Jerry "Lilly" Peat. (Past ya know the whole advocation of wrongful vs justified violence and ANTIFA thing, eh) That so very often it's not just _what_ someone says but _How_ they say it also, that can make an otherwise good or even valid point come out as narcissistic which is again not in or of its own Discordence a bad or negative thing, _If and When like the Jimquisition that is half the entire point._ (When you push out talk of "Positivity and RAINBOWS" but are an arse in how something sounds, yeah)... So to summarize my point in this and how things as a whole relates in life as a whole, *"In Balance we Stand, In Falsehood we Fall; Know this be True else Damned Be are All."* - balance is the key to all things.
