The reason why they go up the hill before fly up is bc when they are up hill, the tree tops down below are almost eye level with them. That’s less energy they have to waste flying to the tree tops.

I eqate their flight to that of a B-52 bomber, clumsy but gracefull, ive had them fly right over me wondering what the heck was that until i thought about it & then laughed thats a turkey
