A-ha are underrated and much more than "Take On Me". "Living A Boy's Adventure Tale", "Driftwood", "Hunting High & Low", & "I've Been Losing You" are some of the decade's most elegant, sumptuous Pop.

Morten has his own style, and dresses exactly as he wants at the moment. "I feel sorry for stylists who are sent in my direction", he says. Before they broke through, he completely freaked out in the dressing room, and also dressed up Paul in imaginative creations. Maybe he did the same for this concert? Paul says he can thank Morten and his creative styling skills for his wife noticing him when they first met in London. It's the same girl all their songs about longing for your loved one from A-ha's first years are written to / about, if they are signed Paul. In Norway we have this saying "Alt kler den smukke", which can be translated "Everything suits the beautiful". Since Morten is in that category, I guess he can dress as he like, and get away with it.

Im curios, here in the UK Morten and A-HA are very much loved & respected, Do the people of Norway hold him and the band in the same esteem?
@ahkkariq7406 Жыл бұрын
@@whu58 The one who is most popular here in Norway is probably Magne. He is an uncomplicated type that everyone likes. That doesn't mean we don't respect the other two, as well. They have a status here in Norway that no one else has. Last summer they had a concert in my little town. My sister in law laughed when she said "Strange that the young people don't have home-alone parties in their houses, because all their parents are at a concert!"

I have loved A-ha fom the first day they released 'Take on me', but as your neighbour I have visited Norway twice... First time I drove trough the northern Finland and Sweden to the Lofot Islands.. Great journey and even though I wasn't good enough to understand Norway I was impressed how locals tried to speak more like swedish would.. That was more than nice... No wonder that after these decades we are finally and officially together in better and worse: 'Thank you Norwegians and Swedish!!!'
@ahkkariq74066 ай бұрын
@@MarkoMakela-kk7qf For Norwegians over a certain age, it is very natural to switch to Swedish. We grew up with Swedish children's TV, so it's almost like another Norwegian dialect for us. I am otherwise from our northernmost county, so our nearest neighboring country when we were growing up was Finland.

They're pretty much at the top of my concert bucket list. I'm jealous of my friends who have seen them. Other songs to check out are "Here I Stand and Face the Rain", "Hunting High and Low", "The Living Daylights", "Cry Wolf". Currently they have resumed the tour that was interrupted by the pandemic. They will play shows in various places around the world, including South America and the USA (NY and Holiwood Bowl). I'm from Brazil and we love a-ha. It was in Brazil that a-ha entered the Guinness Book of Records as the largest paying audience for a show: 198,000 people. This absolutely made my week! Never seen that performance of Summer Moved On, I'd be very happy to watch you react to absolutely anything from the rest of that performance. Morten has always worn a lot of leather, he and his leathers and wrist cuffs have a lot to answer for 😉 Wait until you see him in jeans and a leather waistcoat and nothing else. Or leather pants/trousers with sleeveless t-shirts. Beware, he has also committed some heinous crimes against fashion; the jeans with braces/suspenders over a gingham shirt, or the tiger striped waistcoat with tartan trousers/pants shall never be spoken of again.

And as for live performances - you should really check out the '91 show at NRK, Manhattan Skyline especially, as well as the same song and just anything from MTV unplugged. and the 1994 gigs from either South Africa or Saint-Petersburg. The same happened to me, though with another KZbin reactor, Yeedeed. Of course, as a Norwegian 18 year old girl when they broke through in 1985, I am guilty of being one of the girls back then making a-ha look like a band for teenage girls. Later on life went by, and they left me behind. Now I have found them again, and what a reunion it has been! Not only have I bought all the albums I could get at the time. I also have bought all of Mortens solo albums and are working on getting hands on Paul and Magnes solo albums, too. And of course - I enjoy watching KZbin reactors discovering their music.

@@NoCanDu There is an interview from 2010 with Canadian TV Q where they talk about why they "disappeared" in the States. I can not blame anyone but myself - and of course Norwegian media that ruined a lot for my impression of the band. I was too young, and wasn't able to see through the media's clickbites and lack of respect for the achievement it was for a Norwegian band to break through internationally. The law of Jante is strong in this country, unfortunately. Now I am looking forward to my first concert with a-ha in a couple of months, for the first time, if all goes as planned.

Leather pants are great, definitely were de rigeur in the 80s. Some friends and I persuaded a guy friend (1 guy, 4-5 girls, lol) to buy some faux leather pants (aka vinyl, lol). The first time he wore them, back then we were all skinny Minnie's, he had just cleaned his car out including Armor-All over the interior. He had to slam on the brakes for some reason (I was the only one with him, going to get others)...new vinyl pants on newly Armor-All'd seats, plus a super skinny driver, equals one flustered dude halfway into the floor of the car. He was slipping around the whole time, every curve, every turn. I am not sure he ever wore them again. Sorry for the long story, your leather pants comments made me think how popular they were in the 80s and this memory from late 1984 came sliding (I'll see myself out) into my memory. I really enjoy your reactions. You can inspire such wonderful memories to come flooding back, and your enthusiasm reminds me when we heard them as the brand new releases that week.
