Rewatching the story back, the anime made Misha's anger at Amiya more understandable to be honest. Amiya showed her that Rhodes don't kill and she herself has great control over her Arts to just knock people out not kill them but then she went ahead to brutally impaled her little brother. Yeah, Alex was going for a suicide bombing but in Misha's mind she probably thought Amiya can do something without killing him since she said it herself "I believe you Amiya." Naive but understandable. And now she has no one to turn to, she neither believes Rhode and Reunion, and became suicidal. The anime made the story a bit clearer and the voice acting is amazing.

This still makes Misha look like Joker. She was always a Psychopath, she just needed the right trigger, she wasn't and will never be innocent. In the game this is portrayed by how quickly she is to gain Reunion's side the instant she knows Alex is Skullshatterer and that in the game she actually died faster but 1. She literally tried the same maneuver as Skullshatterer did so Amiya is forced to kill her. 2. Was A-OK (Like here) with genocide just to show "Empathy" and for some reason (This only in the game) she tried to do this so that the innocents pay off her "Debt" to Alex for abandoning him (Even though it wasn't her fault at all) Misha is a villain in both versions. In the animr they made just a little more dramatic, but the canon one was a God-level bitch and didn't deserve the fast death AMIYA dealt to her. PS: In case you are wondering yes, canonically Amiya killed Misha, not Ch'En like in the anime

Surprised to see so many thinking Ch'en had another choice. Misha had a weapon and had it pointed at Amiya&CO, that is unequivocally grounds for lethal force. Ch'en's decision was highlighted multiple times up to this point not only in her talks with Amiya but also her own actions against those that raise weapons against her allies.

In the game Misha dies as a result of the battle with no one being specified as the one who killed her, they chose Ch'en to deal the killing blow to MIsha in the anime but in this scene I can't help but say that Ch'en could have just slashed the grenade launcher in half not killing Misha. I can't wait for the OST when Misha appears as the second Skullshatterer to be released. Overall this episode fixed quite a lot of plot holes from Chapter 3's finale, such as showing Misha trying to clear a pathway for Reunion by shooting from afar, then being too exhausted and lacking will to take out Amiya. In the game, it's implied she frontlines the Reunion forces as the CG shows, whereas she's not a fighter so that always felt weird (although I kinda assumed due to that that all Ursus citizens have basic military training.) Other thing I disliked at first was when episode 1 and 2 tried to build up RI as this shining force of good that doesn't kill anyone and somehow manages to avoid lethal violence whereas no other organisation can, whereas that isn't brought up much in the game and RI is pretty much shown to be forced to kill Reunion's soldiers when it comes down to violence, due to no other choice. The finale subverted that by making it clear that the no violence option is just Amiya's pipe dream.

I'd disagree about no killing thing being just Amiya thing. Sure game didn't really make a big deal out of it, especially since we literally in game clearly kill all those faceless Reunion solders, but I thought the way they decided to adapt it absolutely made sense. RI *is* first and foremost a pharmaceutical company that focuses on helping everyone. It wouldn't make sense if then the same company just went around merc'ing everyone. It'd make perfect sense the general policy of RI would include rules like "Operators avoid taking life if possible". It'd perfectly match the RI's creed "Silent we shall be, should conflict be avoidable, but fight tooth and nail, should it be necessary." that in general they avoid conflict and so going for non-lethal means of taking out opponents fits with that. And especially in last episode, they highlight that doing things this way is definitely noble and admirable, but also incredibly hard. That was more of the point of the whole thing. That just killing people is easier and less messy, but also will never makes things better. When you let people live or try to reason with them, you risk things going south or make more people die in the process, but if you can pull it off, it's much more rewarding and better for overall health of society in the long run, than, you know, just murdering each other ;v Basically RI is taking a high route which makes their path very hard to walk through, but also much more satisfying to. As with all ideals, they're ideals, because if they were easy to achieve, everyone would be doing it, but just because it's harder and more complicated to pull off, it doesn't mean it isn't worth doing.

That's because of bad adaptation. In the game Misha tried to kill the Doctor taking advantage of the opening Reunion does for her thanks to her explosives and making the same move Skullshatterer did (Yeah she doesn't solo an entire Unit, Ch'en included, like in the anime) So AMIYA is forced to kill Misha, because she literally didn't have any other option.

4:16 also consider that in the scene where you see her shooting, you can clearly see that she is completely unable to control the recoil of the grenade launchers, showing how little experience she has with them. Combine that with the fact that after basically firing 3 shots she already has difficulty maintaining her balance, and you see how little fight is really left in her.

So, there are two major things that spring up from this: Ch'en fucking GETTING Misha, and W being W. Regarding the first, the common question is "couldn't Ch'en have just neutralised Mishra without killing her"? Whilst we know that Misha is weakened from firing the shots, and unlikely to be able to pull the trigger, Ch'en certainly doesn't. What she knows is that Misha openly delcared herself alligned with Reunion, fired off 3 shots that blew holes bigger than Skullshatterer did (see the part where Alex is teaching Misha to shoot), and now has a gun levelled at Amiya. She also previously saw that these guys possess the ability to just blow up their ammo even when it isn't in the gun. She could try to go for the gun, try to take out the ammo, sure. But she cannot hesitate. That is the entire point. She has to kill Misha there, because Amiya hesitated, and Ch'en cannot take the risk of anyone else dying. In fact, Amiya hesitating and it causing people to die is even a theme in this first season! We see it with Ace right near the start - Amiya lets her guard down, and Ace has to take the heat for her. He dies, in part because she dropped her guard. Amiya hesitates, and someone dies. Ch'en tells her openly, you cannot hesitate. You can NEVER hesitate. Furthermore, Ch'en's anger seems directed not just at Amiya, but at this situation on the whole. Her anger, her rage, it is grief that it came to this. Grief that she couldn't save Misha, that she couldn't do enough. She failed Misha once, when W came to claim her, and now she has failed her again. It isn't just frustration or anger at Amiya's hesitation, it is the agony of knowing that she wasn't enough to save her. This does also link into other things that Ch'en is struggling with, but that's spoilers for future seasons. This does lead us rather nicely into W though! Why did W send Skullshatter straight at the Doctor, knowing what would happen? Why did she push Misha to take Skullshatter's place, manipulating her into dying also, after going to so much effort to save her? Well, this gets into spoiler territory, so be careful! But, we know even from earlier episodes that W has some... interesting reactions, to Rhode's Island. She went to Chernobog just for a 'touching reunion' with the Doctor, but then doesn't do anything from there. She hints to what her grand plan is at the end, with her mention of Chess Players and Talulah. Her reason for doing all of this (spoilers) was a Xeno's Gambit. Talulah has plans to help take down Lungmen, but W doesn't actually want her to succeed. Misha has information (a key necklace) that is very important to getting control of Chernobog's core, which would allow Talulah to slam the entire mobile city into Lungmen, to help take it out. W doesn't want this to happen, for a few reasons! However, she equally has a long history with the Doctor, and given the chance would see them dead. Ergo, the Xeno's Gambit she's playing. When she sends Skullshatter to take out the Doctor, there are two options: Skullshatterer succeeds, dealing with the Doctor for her. Or, Skullshatterer fails, and ends up dead! If the Doctor is dealt with, that's great! She has other plans to help deal with the Talulah issue (she's had no issue with blowing up her own troops in the past, after all). However, as we all know, Skullshatterer fails, and ends up dead, which leads us to the next step of the gambit: Misha. She pushes Misha to take Skullshatterer's place - again, a gambit that has a few outcomes. If Misha does, then there's another chance that she might take out the Doctor (win), or she'll end up dead (win bc W can get the key). If she doesn't, then Reunion has a very, very costly battle, that results in Talulah losing a lot of troops - something we know she came to Lungmen to get anyway. This loss would slow down Talulah and weaken her position - it is the worst outcome for W, but still a win! Furthermore, there is still every chance she can take out Misha in some accidental way if she does know anything - and if she doesn't, well, she can get the key! Now, the other very interesting part is the chess metaphor. "Even the greatest chess player may find themselves in checkmate at the most unexpected moments. That's why, all's well, in the end." During this scene, we see a close up of Talulah, showing how what was meant to be a simple victory for her has put her in something of a checkmate situation - she's lost a lot of troops, something she was coming to Lungmen for, has lost one of her generals, AND has lost Misha. From what was meant to be a winning position, she's now dangerously close to a checkmate. However, this isn't the only unexpected 'checkmate' that we see!! Earlier, we see the Doctor in a checkmate of their own - Skullshatterer running them down, about to explode. No way to save them without breaking the rules. Checkmate. Except Amiya then breaks the rules, and kills him - saving the doctor from that checkmate, but forcing another kind of issue entirely. However, this metaphor also explains W's views on a number of things. (Spoilers ahead once again!) We know W's previous issues with the Doctor was that they viewed everything like a game of Chess - you can sacrifice anything and everything, if it means victory. A queen is worth more than a pawn, but will be sacrificed just as quickly if it means taking the King. Now, she sees Talulah going down a similar path, willing to sacrifice anyone and everyone to achieve her goals. We also see Chess come up earlier in the season as well - Mephisto uses chess callouts to tell Faust where to shoot! Mephisto put's the chess metaphor most bluntly - "These are yours to sacrifice as you see fit". Faust is the king, and all the reunion members are pieces to be used to save himself. W's aim then, it would seem, isn't to be a pawn or a queen, or even a king. Her aim is to remove herself from the game entirely, and put herself as a player instead. No matter which piece you are, you're being played by someone else, which isn't something that W can accept. I imagine Chess will continue to be a running theme in this series, especially given we have Talulah, The Black Snake, Wei the Cunning, and Kal'tsit all in opperation. tl;dr: Ch'en was grieving having to do the action herself because she couldn't risk hesitating, W was playing a Xeno's Gambit where any outcome worked out for her.

On why Ch'en did not just knock out Misha: Probably a combination of Misha/Alex's arts and Misha basically reaching terminal stages of her infection. This latter part is especially important since infected basically turn into little Originium bombs when they die. Plus, Misha's arts could very easily go berserk (similar to what happens to Ifrit's friend in Records of Originium).

Actually being reckless is Franka's character trait. She's a thrill-seeker and loves making her opponents underestimate her and then kicking their asses. That was the reason why Liskarm was assigned as her partner, as she's very level-headed and sticks to protocols, she's perfect person to watch Franka over and keep her from getting herself killed. At the same time when Liskarm goes all out and unleashes her Arts, they're very strong, but if she fails to take everyone out with them, after she uses up all her strength she's left powerless for some time, so she needs someone to guard her during that period and short-ranged Franka is perfect for that. So they actually compensate for their weaknesses and complement each other. Truly a perfect couple, I mean, duo.

Well considering the much bigger crater left behind by misha when skullshatterer was teaching her how to use the launcher paired with the fact she was perched up in a hard to reach spot I'd say she definitely didn't need his skill level to shoot and hit targets with long ranged aoe attacks

@@FlamingBeat She was firing more beforehand. Those two we see are the last ones. Although you could think it makes sense as she is shooting from far away and made a lot of shots before fainting. Unlike the game where she went straight for Doctor just to die in the same way as her brother. I think the only thing that makes me angry about this whole shit is that it caused Ch'en's lesson to Amiya to come as mockery more than shocking reality. The situation that forces them to stop her is there, just replace the doctor being threatened for the special unit and Ch'en herself and we all know she ain't dying of that. But the fact Ch'en rushes like a good kilometer, maybe even a mile before reaching a very tired Misha and decides to kill her, while deserved, takes away any value Amiya could take from this lesson. Yes, Misha killed people but Amiya heard Misha kinda surrendering and in her eyes, at least in the anime, it seemed like Ch'en just took an innocent life or, at least, the life of someone they could have helped. And I don't take the Arts killing her bullshit. Yeah Arts slowly kill you the more you use them without resting and Misha spammed that shit like crazy. She stood there for like a Loooooong 4 or 5 minutes before Ch'en tackles her. Wow so, miraculous coincidence, Arts wait to kill her until JUST the moment Ch'en makes contact. Ah yes, believable. Damn if it was only two shots it would make even less sense.

Guns are limited to Sanktas since they the one who "found it" and the only one who use it Theres no concept of gun powder on Terra (Arknights World) , but Sanktas have special Arts that make them able to use Guns as they pleased Execption only comes to some ops we have that use Guns like Glock that Jessica used, but even by then its from Black Market, and theres no ops aside Sanktas that use heavy type of Guns for example SMG-Exusiai, Shotgun-Executor, Sniper-Ambriel etc² Even tho theres no gunpowder, but Terra knows concept of Explosive chemical which explains some of ops we have using Grenade launcher or similar weapons Another execption comes to certain ops called Andreane that use sniper rifle, but that actually just Modified bowgun she create herself cause she is a gun maniac and as for the ammunition, she use her own ink to shoot from her gun

i probably wasnt paying attention too well to the anime, but why did W indirectly try to get both Alex and Misha killed? Spoiler for Chapter 7-8 in the question: Was it to prevent Talulah from getting the Chernobog keys to ram the city into Lungmen?

This probably just my false assumption But either way she does got them killed whatever she planned it or not, her telling Alex to focus on dokutah is smart, but mainly because Doc is on W killing list anyway, so she told him to kill doc to spare herself the trouble Thats for "not planned to kill Misha/Alex Route" As for "why she needs to kill Misha/Alex" i think rather vague, since at this point execpt Rhodes, everyone else know that Misha needed because Key she holding, W can just take it without need to kill her, what's so hard taking key from a defenseless child? Also, iirc theres 2 Key, one of it is the one Misha carried, as for others iirc carried by Patriot, given by Talulah At ch8 climax, Patriot's key do nothing, while Misha's key able to stop Chernobog
