Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye) is actually a 1969 song from an odd band called Steam...Bananarama version is a cover and definitely the BEST version of the song...you really should listen to their "Wild Life", "Rough Justice", "Venus", "Cruel Summer", "The Preacher Man", "Long Train Running", "More Than Physical", "I Heard A Rumour", "More More More", "Moving My Direction (Moto & Blanco Remix)" and "Help" tracks as a 2nd part segment from Bananarama...

Woohoo, you finally got back to Bananarama! I nearly jumped out of my seat when you said A Trick of the Night. My favorite track by them! (True Confessions album is peak Bananarama for me). It is indeed moody (and serious when you examine the subject matter) and those harmonies are golden. Love your reactions, and yes, you were right on with the first tracks, these ladies didn't take themselves to seriously, and often evoked the vibe of just stumbling into stardom

I've never heard the last one before, but the chorus is My Mine's "Hypnotic Tango". An Italo-Disco classic from 1983.

Celebrating 40+ years of Bananarama! Still going strong, also their latest album is super. That last track Look on the Floor sounded a bit like Kylie to me. Great track btw.

Hope you react to former Bananarama member, Siobhan Fahey's other chart topping band, Shakespears Sister. Their song 'Stay' remained number 1 in the UK for 8 weeks. Other hits included 'You're History', 'I Don't Care', 'Goodbye Cruel World', 'Hello (Turn Your Radio On)', 'Dirty Mind', 'Run Silent, Run Deep', 'Heroine', and 'Pulsatronic'.

YESSSS!!!! These ladies are quite simply legendary, and vastly underappreciated. I feel like you really get the care and technical artistry that goes into their music, even if maybe they aren't like the greatest singers. Their personalities and melodic layering carry the day, FORTY YEARS into their career. I have suggestions for part 3: Last Thing On My Mind (1993), Love Don't Live Here (2010), Stuff Like That (2019), Masquerade (2021).

"Na Na Hey HEY Kiss Him Goodbye" was originally a hit for a group called Steam. It went to # 1 in the U.S. in November 1969. Thanks for more of my girls. They have so much to explore. Try some of their 90's glamorous house tracks.

Great reactions!!! Loved Bananarama back in the day, hadn't even heard that last song, I knew they'd made a comeback having saw them looking great on breakfast TV a few years back. They just have a great sound, seem to just be having fun rather than taking themselves too seriously, despite being very good at what they do. These songs just make you feel good, and to be honest I expected more of their famous songs like Nathan Jones and Robert de Neiro's waiting, not some of these so there's definitely more to come from the girls!!! How about some more Steps as well while we're at it?

I'm not sure if that was the original Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)... I'm sure others might know, but I think this is the most well known version at least. Bananarama were fun. You know when people say "oh this is so 80s" ? this band is the british gold standard band for that term. 😁I think the average young girl looked like them and identified with them. I mean, they were never the best singers or dancers. They just were a band that were fun in the 80s. They did eventually team up with Stock Aitken and Waterman productions and although I like quite a few of their songs, sometimes they were hit or miss kind of a thing. Not that I mind, early Bananarama is enough for me. Great reaction as per PMD. Funny and thoughtful. ❤❤ Oh one more thing, yes I know a whole day has passed since you started reading my comment lol but thanks for reacting to these lesser reacted-to artists.

I have heard alot over the years how Bananarama is cheesy, but i always answered: DOH,the entire 80s was a cheese fest. But with Bananarama it works, they always had this image as looking like "everyday working girls" in the 80s. Not super glamorous compared to theyr fellow girlbands back then (or even boybands) There were alot of bands that took themselfs way too seriously compared to theese ladies. And they all still look stunning,no matter how much they dress down. Who am i trying to kid, still today they look amazing and i believe everyone are mothers by now. Well,it doesnt show on them. They could have all starred in American Pie as Stiflers Mom (Joking .......or am i?) 😏😆Whenever i had to sneak away from my obsession with Madonna Niki and Donna, then i had a tendency to crush on all 3 of them *Ahem*Okay, moving on!

A Trick Of The Night used to be my jam! I hope one day you will do a reaction to one of t he Bananarama, Siobhan Fahey's band, Shkespears Sister's videos. Sophie Muller directed most of them, and while their big hit, Stay and its video are great, I recommend I Don't Care, the follow up to Stay. The felf-aware playfulness of Bananarama lives on in Shakespears Sister.
