I dont blame you with Wuthering Waves lol. ZZZ's story is something straight out of a saturday morning cartoon like Ben 10 or Generator Rex so I enjoy it personally.

Think of it this way: Star Rail is made by Hoyoverse. Wuthering Waves isn't. ZZZ is made by Hoyoverse, same as Star Rail. So you can expect about the same quality from it, more or less. So far, the story is pretty easy to follow, and the combat is fast-paced. You can pretty much play both Star Rail and ZZZ, since both games let you play at your own pace anyway.
