Definitely not as bad as it felt when watching it live. I feel like Mertz and Napier adjusted to how Utah was defending them well. It all just comes down to execution. A handful of those plays if the offensive line can hold or has the awareness of an incoming blitzer there could have been touchdowns. Offensive line needs to improve. Receivers have to know what they are doing in crucial moments in the game. Go gators.

I wish more UF fans watch this to calm down a bit. Outside of the bone headed mistakes there was a lot of positives. Every time we got rolling we would shoot ourselves in the foot. Luckily most of the issues can be fixed by week 3 against Tennessee.

Wow I remember watching that play at 48:35 and just being disgusted at the play call. I'm so glad you broke it down and showed it from the angle at 50:24. I do wish they had a different playmaker in there rather than Zanders, but it really shows how it was poorly executed from the O-Line. This whole video gives me hope that we can grow fast as a team.

Seth, Very much appreciated your film breakdown. One suggestion: add a checklist at the end that summarizes what stood out to you from the game. It appears that the tight end was unable to execute consistently on the blocking assignments that led to pocket collapse. Also appears that for the most part, Mertz did a good job. thanks again for your breakdown

At 32:00 , I thought the big praise that Napier had for Mertz ever since he transferred were his 32 starts, and that he would see this defense and be knowledgeable enough to check out of the called play into a play action like you mentioned.

David Waters (Gators Breakfown Podcast) sent me here, and I'm glad he did. One thing worth mentioning about the defense is how they were looking to the sideline basically until the ball was snapped. That better get straightened out before facing the hurry up that Tennessee plays.

This was great copium content. Florida was so close to being dynamic. If Florida can't scare teams from flooding the box against the run, it's going to be ugly. Quick slants could definitely help, but if the ball bounces off the receiver it could be picked and returned. Billy has to gamble a little more. Also, notice on the long pass to Pearsall that Mertz rolled out a little. Not sure if that was by design or if he did that to give himself more time, but a half rolling pocket could be a good counter to middle blitzes. Great job.

I've been to stadiums all over the country. Even though Utah and Oregon only have around 50k, they are some of the loudest fans. Those same 20-30k loud Ute fans travel as well. They cause false starts.

Trust me Rice Eccles is loud af. Everyone says it. Most don’t believe it until they experience it. Very hostile environment. Can’t fluff it off. Those who do pay dearly.

Agreed, ran into a Florida fan at DFW and spoke about the evenings game. Told hime Rice-Eccles was loud and he was oh so dismissive, esp. since it was not an SEC stadium. I think he found out differently in person. BTW: I read Utah just installed a seismometer bolted to the floor of a utility room in the stadium. Utah's first play of the game resulted in a 1.5 magnitude quake!

Florida reacted to the shifts. It wasn't because they couldn't hear. Its loud but nothing close to what they've played in before. Moving forward I think Florida will play better and will turn things around.

Just terrible coaching all around. Eugene Wilson is a freshman. He doesn’t get to return punts or have the same number as an upperclassman. Simple coaching decision that would have prevented a number of issues.

One game people @ their place. And against their jr's & SR's. But many on their team have much more experience than our first game freshmen! This went about like I thought but nowhere near as bad. You can't expect our guys in their first year out of high school. To go into Utah and smoke these guys. Much less beat them. The Gators will get worse against SEC teams. I don’t understand why Napier loves 12 personnel so much…running into 7 and 8 man boxes makes no sense. The reason why Tennessee’s offense is so successful is because they spread you out and make you defend 53 & 1/3. Also, does he not know how to run a 2 minute offense with a sense of urgency and without having to motion a receiver or tightend every play? No excuse not to get a play off at the end of the 3rd qtr

He loves it because LBs in todays game are like safety’s. You, in theory, can run on em. Plus in 12 the defense can’t tell off you are running or passing. Tennessee offense is cool until you play elite defenses that’s why they only scored 13 against Georgia. It’s a gimmick offense. Show me where Tennessee offense has won something of significance

The Florida Gators are not imposters. They are exactly what we saw. The Gators are not well coached, and they are undisciplined. The penalties, false starts, illegal procedures are a continuation from last year. The offensive play calling lacks imagination and creativity. I can't tell what Napier is trying to build.

I really enjoyed your presentation style (this is the first time I have seen one of your videos) and obvious coaching knowledge. However, all you do is shoulda-woulda-coulda Florida plays. EVERY play (regardless of how bad it is) you are talking about what could have or should have been. You never do that for Utah. I understand your emphasis was on Florida, but your obvious fanhood is glaring. The net result is a bunch of hype instead of actual assessment of the game. I THINK you are trying to be positive, but it comes across as "copium". If you want to give people actual expectations going forward, you've gotta acknowledge both teams good plays, players, and concepts. You have got to stop hog sucking anything in a gator uniform. People are saying we will REALLY find out who Florida is against TN. We already saw who they are. Undisciplined, poorly coached, and athletic.

You're videos are WAY WAY too long. Take the handful of plays that determine the outcome. Choose plays they had a penalty the kept a drive going or.ended a drive. All turnover and scoring plays. But you definitely have to speed up. I would subscribe if you sped up.

Why did we only hit two RB screens? It's infuriating to watch. Something works and we never go back to it. Same as the deep throw to Pearsall where he got held and it wasn't called.
