Interesting fact about Keiko Agena, the actress who plays Rory's best friend Lane- she was 27 at the time of filming this episode! Blew my mind when I found out cause she looks so young, at least the same age as Rory (Alexis Bledel was 19 at the time) Also I live nearish Hartford and around a few private schools that are like Chilton, and I can 100% guarantee the tuition is 50,000/year, not 5. Schools like that are insanely expensive around here!

I love Dean's assessment that Rory has great concentration and her counter that she's just extremely self-absorbed. Turned out to be true. Don't get me wrong. I love this show and was the same age as Rory. That just means I am now the same age as Lorelai.

I audibly gasped when you said who is that about the harpist character bc I love that actress - Alex Borstein. In later episodes she also appears as Emily's seamstress/stylist Miss Celine in season 3 & 5. She has most recently been on the show Marvelous Mrs Maisel which I would highly recommend you watch!! She won two emmys for her role in that. She was also the oddball chaperone in the Lizzie McGuire movie which is a fantastic piece of cinema if you havent see it 😂 Apparently she is also the voice of Lois in Family Guy.

emily is mad that lorelai doesn't ask for favors, so lorelai probably would have been better off just asking for the money right away and not mentioning paying it back. there's also a later episode where lorelai does pay it back and emily gets pissed off again.

@@notthemovie Well, in the episode, it's shown that it's less abut losing her power over her and more that Emily genuinely fears that without the financial arrangement to compel her to visit, Lorelai will just go back to visiting once or twice a year. She is really afraid of losing connection with Lorelai and Rory all over again. Lorelai running away as a teen really did a number on Emily. Unfortunately, she doesn't have the ability to express that in a way that is emotionally healthy.

The actress who plays Drella, the arpist was Sookie in the original pilot. They re.shoot some scenes when the network picked it up. Melissa Mcartney was cast as Sookie, so they created Drella for the other actress.

This episode was filmed in Canada, with another Dean and Sookie. Dean and Sookie's scenes were redone when the show got picked up. The Harpest was the orginal Sookie, but she couldn't get out of her contract for Mad Tv. She ended up playing two other small parts. The rest of the show was filmed at the WB backlot

The harpist was originally supposed to play Sookie, but she had a scheduling conflict and couldn't commit. She is in the original pilot, which you can find online. And she went on to co-star in "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," which is from the creators of "Gilmore Girls." (She was also married to the actor who played Jackson.)
