@48:20 Actually, that hairstyle is called The Gumby. It was popular back in the late 80s and early 90s, and was made popular by the cartoon of the same name. 2pac was rocking the Gumby back in '88 if you look back at his interviews as an artschool student. Also, Omar Epps character is wearing the Gumby as well.
@SistaGurlonFilms4 ай бұрын
Im well aware of what the gumby hairstyle is. Two things can be true at the same time. He has the gumby cut, which looks completely different than the version Q has. And his hair can also be symbolic since this is a movie and whatnot

Juice is one of my favorite movies. It turned into a horror film after Bishop killed old man Quil. I first saw this in theaters with my brother & cousin at the $1.50 movie. I got chills when Bishop killed old man Quil & Raheem & when he appeared at Q’s locker. Here are some fun facts: Omar Epps’ name was Quincy in this movie & in Love & Basketball. Donald Faizon auditioned for the role of Steele but was given a small part in this movie. He confronted Q at school before Bishop showed up. Q’s little brother was played by George O. Gore II (G from New York Undercover & Jr. from My Wife & Kids), Flex Alexander was the dude who was arguing with the judge at the DJ audition, Snappy Nappy Dugout was played by one hit wonder singer Oran “Juice” Jones who sung who 80s hit the rain, Yolanda was played by Cindy Herron of En Vogue & her husband played in School Daze, Do The Right Thing & The Drop Squad.

So, I read once that Earnest Dickerson had written this script in the late 70’s/early 80’s so the dialogue needed to be updated to shoot it. I think what you’re hearing is, in some instances, them not updating it fully enough to always feel of the time. That said though, this is still one of my favorite movies of all time.

After all these years of watching this movie, I realized what Bishop's issue was. Bishop father was sexually assaulted while in prison and everyone in the boroughs knew that, thats why Radamez said what he said during the altercation with Bishop. Peep he was triggered as soon as he said that, also you could easily see Bishop's father was traumatized early in the film. So considering that happened, Bishop goes out his way to prove he's masculine and demanded respect "Juice" by any means necessary. But by him being young, he went about everything Ignorant and emotionally, basically acting out because those same demons his father is facing is somehow taking a toll on him.
@SistaGurlonFilms4 ай бұрын
Yea the first few times watching this, I assumed Bishops father just had mental issues and Radames said that just to antagonize Bishop. But now, I agree with you that, the assaults did happen in jail and that's why his father acts that way

I dont see a problem with reacting to Juice, you reacted to films on this channel that arent thrillers or horror. Where juice is concerned the director was making a modern day public enemy, the black and white gangster film that they were watching on TV and whose character was also crazy. It was meant to be a cautionary film at the time. Juice uses thriller elements to tell this cautionary tale. Who was gonna survive. Even the tag line for the movie is thriller esque.
