Watching Ollie Dixon Play Football Manager

A few days ago, I got pinged into oblivion saying Ollie Dixon was playing Football Manager and mentioned me. I sprung into action to figure out the most important part of this sentence: who is Ollie Dixon, and who is ChrisMD. This is apparently surprising to people but given I’m in the United States just playing football manager in my bedroom, I don’t know who these people are. After educating myself, it was time to break down the tactics, scouting, and beer consumption of my new virtual friend Ollie.
He followed me on Twitter so I feel like that’s a safe assumption. This was fun, if you like these videos, there are a lot of opportunities because everyone in English youtube seems to play football manager at some point in their creator arc. If that is a thing, if it’s not I’m creating a copyright, I’ll reinvest the proceeds in football manager advertisement in America so I can hang out with my own kind again. Nothing against Ollie and Chrismd and such, but their conception of biscuits is very different than mine. I’ll stick to Football Manager, then.

I micromanage everything, not least the friendlies, it allows me to bleed younger players in and try out players in alternate positions to get experience there as well as match fitness, and see who looks like they're ready to step up or could at least plug a gap in an emergency.

@@smudgedfudge7098 as Hyde said - key highlights and give them 60-75mins then subs, depending on condition/match fitness. I also handpick my friendlies to ease the team in with sides we should be beating, rarely playing a top side unless I really need the gate money.

My brother is intelectually disabled, he is 32 years old but behaves like 5 or 7. He grew up watching me play Championship Manager and wanted to play himself but struggled with all the finances, tactics, squad management, etc. So I taught him how to add a new manager to the next opposition, move the goalkeeper out of position or put a field player on goal and voilá. He became succesful and enjoyed the game ever since. He still plays the 03/04 game and refuses to try new versions due to their complexity. Some might say he is cheating but all I care is that he is having fun watching his teams win 34 - 0. And that's all I care. Great videos, keep up the good work!

To be honest I don't know how people either new to Football or new to the Football Manager series even manage to enjoy playing as there are so many options and little things that could stop a team being successful. I've played since early Championship Manager (even remember one early version that was just the Italian league). If I hadn't played most year's versions though and just jumped straight in then I would be confused as anything so I understand why someone would enjoy Championship Manager more regardless of if they are mentally disabled or not as it's a lot more simplified. As you say, the main thing is your brother enjoying the game though and really if any manager had the power to move the goalkeeper out of position and ruin the other teams tactics when they played them they would so your brother is making some rational decisions if you think of it like that.

I manage all my friendlies! The AI is notoriously bad at ensuring all the players get match sharpness etc. Plus good team talks to up morale. So I always manage them. This will improve your performance.

Wasting time for me is useful during the parts of the season where we are playing 2-3 games a week. It seems to help manage fatigue better than having them constantly running end to end.

For the match engine, I would agree with you, especially at a professional level it shouldn't happen at all, except, it does sometimes because humans are crazy stupid and ineffective with their brains and at this level, a moment of hesitation, a moment of doubt, a moment of uncertainty actually does mean that this happens. Especially when it's a pre-season game that no one cares about. So it's frustrating but not totally unrealistic
