Hi!! Brazillian here!! Carnaval is always full of joy, singing and dancing!! The origin of carvanal come from the christian culture, Carnaval is right before Lent, a period when people sacrifice something mundane that they enjoy (could be eating sweets or other small things.) We follow the example of jesus since he past the same period of time fighting the devil in the desert. The Lent ends when east begins, and then we can do those things again. So, in the end Carnaval is a celebretion where people do what they want, since it's the last time they doing it in a while. Im Brazilian !! from Rio actually! I grew up watching this I Brazilian Portuguese ❤️🇧🇷 I promise, as beautiful as it looks in the movie, in real life it’s ten times better - you really can’t find it anywhere else! sadly, the pretty parts tend to be frequented by mostly tourists (often rude and entitled and pervy) and the rich and it’s not just Rio, there are places that look magical all throughout the country and the people are warm and welcoming + the food and the music are absolute treasures! Growing up carnaval was about dressing up and making a mess of glitter and confetti and celebrating everything and nothing at the same time - right now we’re approaching the winter festival called Festa Junina (which i personally like better than carnaval)

I have this movie on DVD but it's been so long since I watched it all the way through so I don't remember the finer details, but I definitely remember the music! The DVD has a playlist where you can listen to all the songs and I listened to them all the time when I watched the movie on car trips :)

When I was a little boy I used to make bird wings and watch rio learned every line got every toy for Rio 1 n 2 and I would learn the songs with the dances and this movie inspired me to get 2 birds when I was younger ❤ love this movie with All my heart ♥️
