The fighting requires explanation. This is a trope from the comic books, and I never dreamed I would see it in live action. Joss Whedon deserves credit for this. Way back when comic books were primarily for kids, kids who were comic book fans would get into endless arguments about which hero could beat up which other hero. Every kid had a favorite character and would insist that character would win no matter what. The people who made comic books understood that these "my guy can beat your guy" hero debates were a cornerstone of the fan community, so whenever two heroes met for the first time (and periodically thereafter), they would fight and the fights would always be inconclusive. That way, the arguments over who could beat up who would keep going, thus maintaining interest in the comic books. Joss managed to duplicate that element of the comic books here. Nearly every combination of heroes fights soon after meeting in this movie, and true to form, the fights explain the abilities of each character, but are ultimately inconclusive.

Coulson returns in the show Agents of SHIELD. And yes the show explains how he "survived". Definitely give it a watch eventually...it starts a bit rough (kind of "villain of the week" crime drama-ish), but around episode 16 of season 1 is when Captain America: The Winter Soldier hit theaters and what happens in that movie directly affects the show...and the show does a complete 180 on quality and rides it until the end.

In the *main* Marvel Universe (Universe 616) Hulk never broke the enchantment regarding Mjolnir. It's an enchantment made by Odin, a being who (in the comics) is powerful enough to destroy galaxies as a side effect of his fights. Hulk lifting Mjolnir always happened in other universes, like Ultimate Marvel.

Coulson started out in the movies and was so popular they added him to the comic books. Kind of like Harley Quinn, who started out in the animated series, and was added to the comic books later. About Natasha's fighting style. In the comic books, she was originally a spy posing as a ballerina in a world-class ballet company, so she has serious dancing skills. I'll admit, I always wondered what a ballerina who could kick ass would look like in a fight, and the MCU came up with an amazing answer to that. The fight choreographers and stunt doubles deserve a lot of credit.

The two of them had a great arc in this film and in the full saga of Tony learning just what makes Steve special, and Tony making the sacrifice play several times before making the ultimate sacrifice. While I lean Tony, mostly for the fact that his abilities were created and not given, I love Steve and the Cap movies are the best. So I always loved seeing their dynamic play out.

Just here revisiting your reactions! - One thing I really like that they did was the sceptre's style of mind control. It just changes their intentions but basically nothing else. - I really appreciate they had the "Not to men like you" from a German guy in Berlin. It's up there with "People forget that the first country the N*zis invaded was their own." - Note that the Iron Man suit can now absorb energy. A nice callback to Iron Man 2. There are a few cases where you see one of Tony's new suits correct for a weakness discovered in a prior movie. - I like the bit with Natasha and Loki. At first it seems like Loki has the upper hand, then Natasha turns it around and reveals she manipulated him. But it's revealed later that Loki really get under Natasha's skin. - "Everything special about you came from a bottle" "You aren't the one to make the sacrifice play". Both their arcs proved each other wrong. - "I put a bullet in my head and the other guy spit it out" I REALLY wish we had gotten more of his story. It is an intense story of mental trauma. She-Hulk kinda made a mockery of it. - "This was never gonna work unless they had something to..." "To fight for?" Lol. They're called the "Avengers".

The whole point of Thor’s hammer is that it requires pure of heart to lift it. In the comics, Hulk can eventually lift the hammer not because he’s so strong he’s braking the magic effect. It’s because if he hulks out enough, his heart becomes pure of rage, therefore a pure heart. He literally hulks his way into a technicality 🤷

On your point about the Chitauri all dropping dead when their ship was nuked, did you notice that when Captain Marvel destroyed Thanos' ship in Endgame, those flying whales didn't drop dead? They got dusted with the rest of his army after Tony snapped. That Thanos was from 2014, which means the battle of New York already happened. Maybe he fixed that little quirk after that fight, or maybe the Russo brothers missed that little detail from Josh Whelan's Avengers movie. What do you think?

I still remember after this movie first came out, everybody was ordering Swarma like crazy. I agree with J.V. that is a horrible way to see movies to know the ending before seeing the movie. However, to be fair, what Jane said about knowing the ending and enjoy the movie more after is also why movies should be seen at least twice because once you see it the first time, you know what is going to happen and you can then relax more and enjoy more of the movie you did not notice the first time. Also, now that we saw Avengers Endgame, we can have more fun going back and seeing all the easter eggs and foreshadowing that was planted early on. Agents of Shield will always be my #1 comic book tv show of all time and I love how this movie started that show. Arrow is my #2. Agent Carter is also in my top 10 shows. I assume since you mentioned Loki is coming out next week, that these reactions were already made over a month ago? Would that mean you already went through all 23 MCU movies by now? If you did hold off on watching Loki until you finished all 23 MCU movies, major kudos to you for managing to avoid spoilers...same with WandaVision! It is interesting going back to see this first Avengers movie to see how far all the characters have evolved since then, including Loki. I wish Marvel were still doing those one-shots and they could do a flashback on what the TVA may have been doing at this time. Also, FYI if you do not already know...that interrogation scene between Loki and Black Widow contains a few fun easter eggs later seen in the Black Widow movie. Regarding Jonah and the whale, basically, God sent a whale to swallow Jonah, who was a prophet who ran away from God when God told him to go tell a certain wicked population to repent (Jonah did not like those people). The whale then spit Jonah up on the shore of the village God told him to go to. I'm oversimplifying with the story, but that's the gist.

The concept that Vibranium absorbs kinetic energy and is still able to bounce is comic book movie logic. It's fine for what it is, but they really could have done themselves a favor and not given it contradictory abilities. You can abosorb all vibration and redisperse it, that's not how absorbing all vibration works. But I digress, because it's fun, and I really don't care that much about the science of a movie where there is a flying suit of armor, a super soldier, and man that can summon lightening, a giant green rage monster, and space aliens 😋😄

Thors hammer is made of URU metal, metal from the first moon in existence, Moon Knight can't physically wield it but he can control it because its moon rock. And it has an enchantment put upon it by odin that only those who are worthy can wield it. In the comics several people have used it.. red hulk used the weightless environment of space to swing it, beta rey bill was worthy of lifting it, magneto can manipulate the metals magnetic field to use it. Even deadpool thought he lifted it but that turned out to be a fake made by Loki. Also Loki, black widow, Dr Doom, Rouge, squirrel girl, vision and a few more

Fury made the avengers believe he was dead as the catalyst that actually made them come together.. he's so sly 😂
