It's partially a coping mechanism, of course, but some of their edits are genuinely hilarious. Watched this version with a friend and we were crying with laughter before long. Like, don't get me started on what it means for human rights (and my rights specifically) because it WILL turn into just crying but goddamn, Lestat throwing a fit because he doesn't like sharing friends is comedy gold. Why would they buy the rights to this show in the first place, I'll never understand.
@mariamaynotАй бұрын
can't wait to get to later episodes! and about the rights: I think Amediateka has a contract with distribution rights to all AMC shows (just like they have with HBO), so it's not that they got the rights for iwtv specifically, it's just part of the bundle they get

It's so unexpected seeing this reaction, but I'm very happy with it please keep on. My mom first saw season one in this version. She said that the whole time she was waiting for them at least to kiss because their chemistry is palpable even in this mutilated version but it never happend. When I told her that this actually happened in the very first episode she was very surprised and upset. Of course she rewatched the original version of the show and loved it but was mad for being robbed of such a great story. After that I watched the whole thing on this streaming service just to know how harsh censores were. For some extent it was very funny. This show is basically a minefield for antigay censorship and it's hilarious to watch all the ways they take to dodge the sensitive topics. But at some point I just got very sad of the whole situation. Of all the reasons why we have to watch this bleak version of a brilliant show. It's just unfair Fun fact: even if you want to watch the show with original audio they won't let you to turn off russian subtitles. I don't know maybe they think we are completely dumb and won't understand that "an openly gay negro man" is not translated like "weak and sensitive man"

And why would they chose to do this show anyways when the Louis-Lestat relationship is one of, if not the, most important part of it?? Like you cannot cut it out and make it make any sense at all. And they're writing themselves into multiple corners (for example, Daniel's thing being alcohol instead of drugs... how does that work when they get to ep 2x05??) Just crazy. I’m tripping over the formal ‘you’ (вы) instead of the informal ’you’ (ты). I guess (begrudgingly) that Daniel could use the formal ’you’ during the interview just to have some kind of semblance of professionalism, but I refuse to believe that Louis was using the formal ‘you’ while at the same time calling Daniel “his boy”. It just doesn’t sound right. I guess we can’t really know since English doesn’t have that distinction, but every time I heard “вы/вас” it was like nails to the chalkboard. Edit: Now that I’ve thought about it, it’s a shame that they didn't spend more time working on the translation. For example, they could have had every business owner in New Orleans refer to Louis by “ты” while refering to each other by “вы”, just to nail down that they don’t see him as an equal. And then introduce Lestat referring to Louis by “ты”, have Louis thinking that Lestat is just another arrogant white man, and then reveal that he in fact refers to everyone informally, thus solidifying that he doesn’t consider Louis to be inferior due to his race.
