YES! I am so glad you guys loved this Part 1. It gets so much flack for not being “action” enough which means people just miss the entire message & purpose of what is happening. Mockingjay book & films are my favourite of the series because the spectacle is now gone & we are in the thick of it. You see the aftermath of how the games psychologically manifest in the tributes. The consequences of war. The price of rebellion. The ongoing battle between Snow & Katniss now with Peeta in the middle. The author & filmmaker don’t shy away from the horrible, traumatic & heartbreaking reality of having your world, your loved ones, your home torn apart. Freedom is hard won & it can cost more than you can bear. Katniss is still a 16 year old girl. Having all of what happens to her, those around her & what is requested of her on your shoulders would break anyone.

Yeah many are too focus on action only that they forgot the message or the real plot of the story. I see a lot of that even in anime community they don't appreciate the slow plot saying its boring, a lot of talking, lack of action etc. when in fact the the main core of the whole plot is actually there, its not nonsense or boring if you actually appreciate or understand every single thing they are talking but I guess some will miss that message cause they are not focus to the scene & only interested to the action. I know action is entertaining but knowing & understanding what they are fighting for will make you relate to the characters more and will have the whole series a lot of impact
@shaungerald239 ай бұрын
Nah. It's not about the action. It's about the pacing. This is the slowest pacing sequel out of the four. Personally I don't think they should have split the last movie into two parts. There are scenes that replay twice that could have been cut or combined with other scenes to quicken the pace. But splitting films into two parts was popular at this point. And well... money. I would love to see someone condense Part 1-2 into one movie.
@jamielee79439 ай бұрын
@@shaungerald23 I disagree. I think the pacing works. Most of the complaints I see is about lack of action. If it was all in one film it would be the same issues that The Ballard of Songbirds & Snakes criticisms have been. It’s too long. They tried to cram too much in etc. Final books in a series always has so many moving parts. They have a lot of loose ends to tie up. I understand why they split it into two to please fans & to give us a more satisfying ending after committing to three films already. I’m glad they split them so we could get everything that happens in the books in the film. If vital things were left out… it would be worse to me & most fans. When you watch Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2 in one sitting just think of them as one big 4 hour film 🤣

In the first book Effie while bragging about how clever she was Effie told Katniss and Peeta she told potential sponsors that they were pearls because if you put enough pressure of coal it turns into pearls. The area of super nice houses in District 12 that weren't destroyed is called Victor's Village and the reason it wasn't hit by bombs is because it's an extension of the capital; plus no one was in them when the bombers were hitting 12 too. Also, the rose that was in the vase in Katniss' house was fresh, meaning it had been put their recently and was a sign left to rattle Katniss.

In the book one of 13’s head doctors told her when she wasn’t sure of what was happening or if something was real to start by reminding herself what was real so she would start with her name and age before listing other facts. That is what she is doing in the beginning of the movie when they are trying to get her out of her hiding spot. I think the point of Katniss's house not being destroyed is bc she lived in a kinda separated place with other victors where conditions were better, even if it was still district 12. They went against the poor and didn't even mind to go where the explosions wouldn't get to bc they're going against just the more vulnerable. Also, just three victors lived there and Haymitch even lived alone, so there wasn't much point on attacking that, as Katniss and Haymitch weren't even there and they got Peeta.

I’ve NEVER understood the hate for this movie. I’ll rewatch this movie more than I rewatch the first one🤷♀️. This movie is so vital to the world building needed for part two, but also takes its time in getting you to feel exactly how Katniss feels. They show you a series of really awful things, but also really strong and brave things from katniss and the districts. They get you to feel that stress for Peeta’s safety- and then Katniss’s too by the end. They make you ANGRY with the capitol over and over, esp snow bombing the wounded. You need this movie in order for the finale to feel even half as big as it does. People who say it’s too slow and not enough action- kinda miss the ENTIRE point of these movies, LOL. The bombers didn’t hit the hospital when Katniss’ arrow brought them down, though it is confusing the way the movie is shot. Finnick talked about how Snow trafficked the victors, sold them if they were desirable, and killed someone they loved if they refused. Johanna refused and Snow killed her family. In Catching Fire, that’s why she said that he couldn’t hurt now, there was no one left that she loved. 😢

Snow had Haymitch’s entire family killed two weeks after the second quarter quell and Haymitch says he was made to be the example to the young Finnick’s, Johanna’s and Casheme’s of what could happen when a Victor doesn’t comply with the Capitol’s demands.

A really intricate detail I always enjoy in the costuming for this movie is the clothing Peeta wears in the broadcasts. Take a look at the first broadcast again at 12:44 - the collar is amazing, it looks like a knife against his throat. The point actually presses against his throat when he speaks. Peeta was being imprisoned and forced onto the broadcasts by the Capitol, which means he was being styled and dressed by them. The outfits were in line with where he left off in the last film, so he is in all white first (at his most pure and symbolic), and in the second broadcast at 39:27 he is in all black with the white peeking through in the centre. Finally, in the third broadcast at 47:43, Peeta is in all grey - at his most beaten down. The collars and ties reference him being literally collared and in a chokehold by the Capitol.

They had to change a TON.

@RD-kd2di Nothing much happened? The entire rebellion actually started banding together & we saw how each district was organizing to fight back. Plus we see just how far the capitol will go, specifically using Peeta as a weapon against Katniss. Cramming all that into the next movie would've been a mistake.

@@orphanedhanyou yeah nothing much happened, in terms of the story, all of the rebellion will and always happen so it was extended just because the book was split into two, character development has remained stagnant even when peeta was rescued, their motivation remained as at the beginning of the movie... like I said nothing much happened and it would have benefitted if the book was only into one movie. If you think that presenting the rebellion is enough for the movie then that's your opinion. But I'm just saying a lot of us think splitting it is unnecessary. I f you think otherwise then that's alright you don't have to give your argument cause this is a matter of opinion.

Great reaction, I'm glad you loved this movie 😁! Cannot wait for you to see how this all will end. I don't care for the prequel, it felt like a clumsy money grab with a really subpar writing. Nothing can beat this trilogy. The fact that the author tried so badly to connect the works but it in the end it was really cringe and unnecessary. Like it could have been its own little thing, but no. I also don't think that we needed to know more stuff about Snow. Oh well.

This reminds me of Hamas vs Israel. Especially the part where snow just condones killing injured and innocent people like how Israel does

worst part of these movies is how katnis goes from practically hating peeta and not wanting anything to do with him for 2 movies to w/e this is

She never hated him, she just didn't know him and thus didn't trust him. She basically came around since the first movie, because when they announced that two victors from the same district could win, she immediately went to him, befriended him and nurse him back to health.

This is the piece that doesn’t translate well from book to movie. Peeta is a constant thought in Katniss’ mind and it’s quite obvious what her feelings for him are even when she doesn’t realize it. When I first saw the movies cause my daughter was watching them I was like why would she choose that little guy. Then I finally read the books and was amazed at the difference between book Peeta and movie Peeta. Peeta got done dirty by the movies. If Katniss was the spark Peeta was the fuel that caused it to catch fire. The way that Katniss and Peeta balance each other out is the reason they survived the arenas. Their strengths and weaknesses complement each other. Having read the books it makes complete sense why she fell apart without Peeta she needed him. She even says it herself right before the beach kiss when Peeta says "No one really needs me" her thought is “I realize only one person will be damaged beyond repair if Peeta dies. Me.” Katniss and Peeta are bound to each other if one doesn’t survive the other would be haunted by the other, but the movies did not build that relationship properly. I think the moments from the book they didn’t include where Katniss and Peeta are just two 17 year old kids were needed. Scenes like Peeta having to finish Katniss’s food at the President’s mansion so she can taste everything, working on the plant book, the train to the Quell, Peeta calling Katniss Pure and their day off on the roof. It felt like the movies wanted a love triangle so Peeta’s actual importance was sacrificed.

I think people didn't like the 2 Mockingjay movies because there was no Games. 🫤 But these two are important because they show the real fight.
