BEST and SAFE : How to change Ford keyless remote key battery - Focus Kuga C-Max Mondeo Fiesta

Quick video on popping open the Ford Keyless entry fob and replacing the battery. This specific one was for a Ford Mondeo 2010, but the fob is the same for a whole range of their models including Fiesta, Focus, Kuga and C-Max.

I have watched this video before, and it made opening and changing the battery simple. Funny enough, today I tried it again, on my spare key, but it wouldn't open until I watched this video over again. It's actually the little twist that is being done, before you get access to the battery that makes this a very good an informative video. The terror of using too much force, just simply vanishes because it's so simple. Thanks once again!

@@WatchItPaintIt Oh, I do remember, but it's that last turn after you've got the screwdriver in. Also, have you tried making this work with the actual key? I mean, it's flat and it fits in there. I did try, but no dice, until I watched the video and changed to the flat screwdriver. The reason I ask is if you're at a place without a screwdriver, and the only flat and long is your key. TLDR: Open this with just the key.

Thanks! I've done the way you described by prying apart the sides and it does leave the fob all scratched up. Your method is actually easier and cleaner. I do this maybe once a year, so I tend to forget how I did it last time. It's a blessing to have resources like yours. Cheers!

Would never had guessed 1st part was fine with the ford emblem opening up and the key inside as shown but the 2nd part how to get to the actual battery until you showed us Simple 2min job 👍👍👍

Screw Driver didn't work for me - I had to find a very thin piece of metal and was able to pry the back open from the same spot where you squeeze it to release the key cover without doing any damage. when i was trying the screw driver as indicated, it wasn't doing enough to make it easy to crack open, and I noticed i was starting to warp the plastic where the screw driver was in contact. anyway, just my experience. this video was extremely helpful. thanks again.

You should have elaborated on the fact that your where twisting the CLAMP clockwise. I had no idea what I was twisting clockwise wise till I looked deep inside. Otherwise great vid, almost done as I type!

If you want to ruin your key fob, definitely feel free to use this method and poke around with a screwdriver. Taking into account that your Ford dealer is within 15 minutes driving distance, it will save you a lot of time to slowly drive to your dealer and let them do it the proper way. That way you also keep an undamaged key which is quite a bonus. My dealer considered replacing the battery (I had already bought a new one) service and charged no costs.

Good video. However the screwdriver isn't necessary. I simply used the small end of the emergency key, put it into the hole and twist. Same results, just doesn't require a separate tool.

Oh that’s fantastic! Just tried it on my fob and it doesn’t work though. I remember thinking of that when I made the video and wishing it worked. But, if it works on anyone else’s fob out there, this is a great tip and saves finding a screwdriver!

When I changed the battery the keyless entry would no longer work. I hope this will solve my problem. I miss the ease of locking and open my car with the remote. Just not the same without it.
