CONGRATULATIONS PRIME MINISTER HOLNESS: As a young reporter with the Nassau Daily Tribune, I had the privilege of covering Jamaica’s Independence celebrations on August 6, 1962, and stayed on to cover the 9th Central American and Caribbean Games, which were held in Kingston from August 15 to August 28, as part of the new island nation's independence celebrations. I fell in love with Jamaica and visited there two or three times a year until I went to London in 1968 for a year’s training in journalism on the staff of the London Evening Standard.
