Unpopular opinion but I have always loved the looks of this car. I saw it at the LA car show and thought it was a cool looking car. I can't speak to the reliability or performance but from a looks perspective I thought this was such a good looking car compared to the neon it replaced.

I got the same car, 145,000 miles. Had to replace the cat converter; so I just got the mpx performance headers with flowmaster 2.5 race cat. From there I've got dual exhaust magnaflow muffler. Got the lightweight pullies; make a huge throttle difference. Looking into the bored throttle body soon. The issue I've got right now is I can't install bigger fuel injectors until I tune the ecu; which if you don't know the 2013-14 are unlocked; 2015-16 are locked. But man I put that thing through hell. Drove it like a bat outta hell on a bunch of dirt and gravel tracks. It handles beautifully cause I've also installed the mpx strut bars, and I've built and installed front splitters to assist in cornering. And lemme tell ya; a few pieces of plastic strategically placed to divert air can make a major difference; even if it doesn't sound like it would. I've had to replace some suspension components over the years; but yknow I drive it on rally tracks. I'm surprised it's still running; let alone no mechanical issues, no cel. Fully paid off; I'm keeping this car until the engine or transmission goes out.

Friend of mine bought a Dart new in 2014, and it's been a great car. Well over 100k on it now and only had to do basic maintenance and replace a stuck front brake caliper. They were aimed at a younger market so they included some things like a large touch screen, LED lights, nice interior lighting etc, but had very cheap feeling materials inside with lots of hard plastic. Surprising yours doesn't have Bluetooth, my friends has both Bluetooth and XM. The engines were a bit noisy and unrefined, and with the cheap interior materials I'm not surprised they didn't sell as well as the foreign equivalents even though they were all more expensive!

I had a 15 200S and loved it. Though it seemed like the car was cursed. An update they did on its first service caused the infotainment system to not work correctly(restarted every 30 seconds) and took over a month for them to get me a new system in after telling me it would be a day or two. A tech dropped the wheel during a tire rotation because and dealer instead of ordering a new wheel tried to have it refinished which the color was not the same as the others and after another attempt to correct they curbed the wheel putting a tire on and tried to put grease on the rim to make it look dirty and finally I said just fix it and get it right and they did. Then the hood (not even 2 yrs) began to rust from within. I loved the car, never truly let me down but damn it had issues. The 3.6 was a great mover too and why I chose it over the fusion and the mileage during trips was very good. This brings back some memories. I remember seeing it at the New York International Auto Show when the Dart first launched. I was in college at the time, so wasn't in the market but I liked the concept. I think a lot of the marketing played off people's memories of the original Dart. Was never meant to be a sporty car, just a point A to point B commuter. If they actually marketed it as an affordable commuter I think it'd still be around today.

The first one of these I ever saw was Thanksgiving weekend while driving to the in-laws. I was on I-90 near Madison Wisconsin and it was sleeting. A bright red one with Florida plates and a Enterprise sticker was weaving through traffic. Apparently the driver didn't realize the bridges and overpasses freeze first. He hit a bridge covered in black ice. He lost control and spun around hitting the front and rear and the slid into the guardrail and took out the passenger side. Not a car I would be interested in owning but they certainly hold up pretty well in a crash. The driver got out and was leaning up against the guardrail smoking a cigarette and told the police showed up.

The Neon released in Mexico after the Dart died IS A MUCH SMALLER CAR- based on the Fiat Tipo- more than a foot shorter, over 800lbs. lighter, etc. The Tipo based Neon should’ve been sold here in lieu of the nearly mid-sized Dart; people wanted a compact car, and the Neon with the 1.3 Turbo is much closer in performance to the 500 Abarth .

I had a 2013 2.0L Rallye edition with a 6MT and dual exhaust. It was fun to drive and got decent gas mileage (35 hwy). The main issue was that water runoff from the roof and windshield flowed under the hood to the strut mounts for the front wheels and rusted them out, creating a creaking noise when turning. I had the mounts replaced and sealed, but the noise came back a couple thousand miles later. Likely another casualty of being rushed to market.

The Dart was developed from the Alfa Romeo Giuletta (and thus the Viaggio after that). -The Dodge Neon in Mexico is not related to the Dart. I believe it's one of the earlier Dodges to have that bar style tail light going all the way across and may have even predated the charger and Challenger with that design. One of the trims you could get a full LCD instrument panel which at the time was really unusual. I was always under the impression that it didn't sell well because it was unreliable and they were quite a few issues with that Fiat multi-air system. Also electrical problems I think. I think what might have done the Neon in was its terrible crash test results. As I recall, the Neon, the Cavalier, and the non-bloated Mitsubishi Lancer all had pretty bad crash test results around the same time period. None of the successors were particularly good.

@@nonsequiturman Correct. The Neon did not do well in the offset frontal test. The Neon was supposed to come back based on the Dart platform but made in an FCA plant in Turkey. But with SUV's outselling sedans the idea was dropped.

@@nonsequiturman It was funny that GM decided to make side curtain airbags optional in the old Saturn S-series in the early 2000's when they were about to be replaced and not in the death trap Chevy Cavalier/Sunfire which sold a ton more. That feature alone probably would have sold a ton more of them to buyers who cared about crash test performance. Even I remember how dangerously poor Neon's and Cavaliers did in side/offset crash tests.

My 95 Dodge Neon Sport was attractive and fun to drive at first, but an absolute lemon. Everything on that car broke. Multiple engine computer failures in the first year, a/c repairs every year, clutch broke... the TURN SIGNALS broke! I loved it at first, but in the end I absolutely hated that car, and I traded it in as soon as it was paid off. Bought a '99 Honda CR-V, and ran that car for 235,000 miles. So. Much. Better.

I have a 2014 Sxt Rallye 2.4 multiair with 157k and alot of options it's not too bad. Change your oil properly and the multiair brick isn't a problem. I also swapped in the 7inch tft gauge cluster on mine with a transmission tune that wakes the Hyundai powertech up.

These cars have a pretty nice interior and the exterior styling is nice as well. However, the dual clutch is a disaster, the 2.4 burns oil, the 9 speed is a disaster, and the electrical problems are horrid.

These never came with 9-speeds only 6-speed autos. And only 1 of the 3 engine options was Fiat-designed (1.4L MultiAir) so that's probably the one to stay away from. The other 2 engines were built somewhere near Detroit by Chrysler themselves, which isn't saying much, but still likely better bets lol.

@@spuwho Giulietta and Mito are the compact front-wheel-drive Alfas. The Dart uses a similar chassis to the Giulietta. I think FCA should have built the Dart as a Giulietta sedan. Not say the Giulietta hatch is wonderful (the 147 GTA with the 3.2 Busso V6, now THAT was wonderful if rather maintenance heavy and delightfully flawed in usual Alfa Romeo fashion), but the Giulietta is decent at least and comes with the option of the 1.75TBi engine with 250hp.

They screwed up the launch, they mostly shipped manuals for the dealers at the onset and no one could test it out cause most people don't drive nor want to drive or buy a stick unless it's a sporty car and this was not one of those.

I had a 2013 SKT like yours.... loved it and drove it 500 miles per tank to 120K miles. Only issue I had was the rear wheel bearings went every 40K. Loved the race track light on the trunk. Then bought a 2016 SE and found some dislikes. A .5 gallon smaller tank is one. Went from 500 to 400 per tank. Still have the issue with the rear wheel bearings. No race track light on the trunk. Up to 126K miles so far.

Same with my 2015.. wheel bearings went out.. they said because it had the optional 18" wheels and big tires.. Dealership replaced them under warranty. I looked at the GT in the lot but for the money over the SXT Blacktop I bought I did not see the value. If I was spending that money I would have purchased a Focus ST. You would figured with the GT emblem you would get at least a bit more performance.
