I like the point at 3:25 - "that is to be expected with time because people forget, people become complacent, people become comfortable, uhm..people become fearful..." To me this is very insightful because it's not just an American thing, or a today (this generation) thing... there's an acknowledgement that this is kind of a human thing which we need to actively fight against, the fear of the unknown - which grows when you are comfortable and don't want anything to threaten it - so you can actually do harm to the world trying to protect what you have.

Saul I love how you put this. the problem is that FEAR of him oveRrides intelligence & his own party left him to be the bad guy. Everyone needs one of those & for her paid corrupted Win as it was with Obama. We have women like me. I'm married by paper and I don't use my Ring as a chain to love my husband. He knows my heart at the start of the finish line is to captivate men that have been left behind by the excuses of women that engineered a lie that they're bad. Fathers, lovers, soldiers, sons, cops, and brothers. They are incomplete just like America. I'm the beginning of the revolution created by unjustified devotional acceptance of self. I'm the discovery channel's way out. I'm the glow in the darkness on your shoulders when nobody is there to hold. I'm the mother reaching out for the Children in the ground of Chiraq. I'm upset with the mindset of the conditions that children can't play in the playground instead the the playground is replaced by cemeteries. sorry I had to get this out

Here's a perspective to leave you with before you have your next post or some regurgitated point of view that isn't your own but want to belong to. It's okay. We only ever got to where we are by forming societies of sameness to become more of what we believe to work in order to become an eventual entity that is greater than ourselves, it's a process of unconsciousness that our instinct drives us to. Thinking is dangerous. Thinking leads to being different than the hive mind and that is ultimately against what we are trying to accomplish as a species, to evolve beyond our environment and succeed our limitations to conquer the next plane of existence outside Earth. You can't do that by questioning and challenging common beliefs, you challenge and question what's accepted to BECOME the common belief.

Chew the meat, spit out the bones. On a socioeconomic tip, he's making some great points with which I agree. However, I respectfully disagree with his perspective of religion on the grounds that he has to borrow from a biblical worldview in order to come to many of the conclusions that he has made. I would also assert that he holds to a misapplication of "fear God" and that it is possibly one of the main reasons that he views religion the way he does. I would love to talk with him some more.
@Toddalotapodamus4 жыл бұрын
I dig Saul Williams, but I don't get this comment section. Genius? Artistically maybe, but there was nothing in this interview that implied anything more than above average intelligence. The only part that could be said to have been spot on was the "fear to control" bit. The only bit that was interesting was the his take on the mysterious, which I disagree with. There are different kinds of mystery and the mystery that was glorified in the past is the same type that is glorified today and the kind that is reviled today was reviled even more so in the past. Everything else about this was fairly trite. One thing that's been funny and ironic to me ever since actually reading anything on history and economics is how artists typically have an anti-capitalist slant, but art is among the first things to go in the absence of capitalism. Bite the hand that feeds indeed.

I find it amazing that people like this wax on about what they don't like, yet offer zero solutions. Blah, blah, blah. So, instead of solutions, do exactly what many they cry about are doing, exploit the gullible with their full-time nonsense via producing nothing and calling it something.
@theseventhworld29907 жыл бұрын
Since when did talking about a situation without offering solutions mean your opinion is void? Only in the minds of vapid idiots could this kind of thinking take hold. And sorry, what was that, Saul Williams 'exploits the gullible with (his) full-time nonsense'? Saul Williams is a poet who will be remembered hundreds of years after he is dead, just like Allen Ginsberg et al. He is the only modern poet worth a damn, and history will remember him as such, mark my words. Of course, I'm not going to get into the dialectics of why poets themselves are extremely important, especially in a modern world full of vacuous corporate culture. So you know, just go and listen to him perform Coded Language, and then maybe come back here and think about what you said, because you're dead wrong. Furthermore, I'm doubting 'Dwight Ryder' could produce a piece of art that came anywhere close to what this man does.
@dwightryder30527 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply. Talking and walking makes the difference. "Waxing on" has never produced a thing. Stating the obvious fills itching ears. Creating and employing solutions is life.

NvikIngsN Again what does fear means?
@NvikIngsN8 жыл бұрын
Polls show Trump and the people who mostly voted for Brexit are older white people and uneducated. I don't like using the term uneducated to label people dumb though. Basically they fear immigrants and minorities are destroying their social structure. I'm white and know people who are not racist, but get scared around black people. Or think their job will be replaced by some minority. They believe immigrants get all of this free stuff that's bankrupting their country. Religion has an element of fear depending on who the messenger is. My church basically implies if your gay you're going to hell and not welcome even though to me it is no worse a sin to have affairs. Or any of the other commandments. Then you have religions that promote God rewards those who live right and pray right. Then a person has a miscarriage or illness and think God is punishing them or even worse, people in that church when you need them most start ignoring you thinking you're cursed. Shame is big too. If you never feared god this might sound like I'm going overboard. Religion as fear has been around since the beginning of time.
