My favorite use of "Safety Dance" will always be when Turk sang it on "Scrubs." There are so many 80s songs I still love. I graduated from high school in 1989, so the decade is my coming-of-age years. My 80s playlist on Spotify (called "Class of '89", of course) is currently over 700 songs, and they range from the sublime ("I will haven't found what I'm looking for") to the ridiculous ("Shiney Happy People"). 25:45 Careless whisper had it's different version of getting popular again here in the philippines. 😂🤣 For context to all foreigners, back in 2009 a s*x tape between a very famous actress(at that time) and a doctor was leaked before they did the deed. They were dancing to this song playing in the background of the said s*x tape 😂 The actress's name is Katrina Halili and the celebrity doctor was Hayden ko/kho. They even had a senate hearing about it, which was both hilarious and a huge waste of everyone's time. To this day, it still didn't make any sense why they didn't settle the lawsuit in court privately instead publicizing it with useless philippine politicians 😂

The majority of these songs didn’t become “popular again”… they just transitioned from Top 40 hits in the 1980’s to regular rotation on adult contemporary radio in the 1990’s and 2000’s… and finally to wide spread circulation on streaming platforms such as Pandora and Spotify in the 2010’s. I’d say the biggest “popular again” hits on this list are Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing, Aha’s Take On Me, and Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill… all of which went through a significant period (in the 90’s) when they were largely forgotten songs - and have now become so massively popular and widespread that everyone knows by them by heart. JMHO.
