The problem with a nuclear power plant is that it's not just radiation what gets put out by it. I would have thought that the heat she stored up from the desert's day would enable her to survive the night. She could also live a normal modern life, just keep the heat turned up. With her skills, she should be able to find a job profitable enough to keep feeding her heat for the rest of her natural life. Especially if she moved to Florida or California. Also, if a nuclear power plant is cooler than a desert, then wouldn't it be a bad choice for a being that needs heat to live?

mr freeze cannot catch a break with women can he? -finds out his wife has a disease -is forced to wait and look for a cure for who knows how long -eventually, does, but she ends up breaking up with him anyway -gets used by killer frost after thinking he found new love - has his body continue to deteriorate till he's just a head (if we continue into the batman beyond territory as canon for this situation) -gets a new body and seems to form a slight attraction to one of the female doctors -his old condition manifests itself in the new body and overhears the female doctor proposing they autopsy his organs -sees her attempt to deliberately raise the temperature in his cell/room and thinks she's trying to kill and/or dump a failed experiment -feels like he's forced to sacrifice himself to save Terry Mcguines and is thus assumed dead yeah....Victor got royally screwed in his life

+Ropsana Using fridge logic (no pun intended), I'd say she uses it to power her heat subtraction power. In essence, her real power is not "projecting cold," it's the ability to transfer heat energy from outside herself to inside herself. In fact, she appears to gain a small bit of energy from each transaction, since when she tried to absorb all of Firestorm's heat, she overheated. She then metabolizes that heat energy to power her heat transfer ability. This is why her skin is ice-cold; her powers use her own body heat as an energy source.
