I would prefer it over trying to unlock from the game - of course that's depending on the game. Of course I can see it working well in the long run, I'd love it and not mind, but I feel there would be never ending drama somehow.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 is an unfinished, tech demo like game on disc. The completed game is the update. The rights to the game were expiring so they released an unfinished game on disc and finished it via a Day One patch. In 10-20 years when the update can't be downloaded, you've got a Pro Skater 5 demo disc.

Dead or Alive 4 has a really cool unlockable character. Spartan-458 Nicole. After completing the story of each character in the game atleast once, you unlock this Spartan from the Halo Universe. Allthough her character is not canon in either series universe, it is still a nice sort of cameo. Bonus fact. that guesture from the makers of DoA4 was so nice to Bungie, that they made their own reference into Halo 3. If you find all hidden collectable skulls in the campaign, you unlock a spartan armor that looks inspired to the armor of Ryu Hayabusa. It also has that name. If you manage to unlock the original 1000 gamescore you unlock Ryu's sword as well. It will just be on your characters back, but it's still pretty cool.

Technically this wasn't an unlockable but rather a dlc unlock but I will say playing as Beck from Mighty No. 9 in a game as violent and potty mouthed as Yaiba Ninja Gaiden was just surreal! I like Beck because of that dlc as this was years before Mighty even released and to date this has to be Becks best appearance in gaming!

You can use cheat codes to unlock Meat Man in Skate 3, but Cheat Codes are only available in Single Player, I think, so you will have to do them all when you're online.

I legit remember the day my brother unlocked Mr. Game and Watch. We just all stared at the screen and then screamed "What the Hell?!" in unison. Besides the Wtf factor, he wasn't even that good a character (low damage intake, no distance attacks, and the 2D factor in a 3D game threw everyone off). It was for this reason that we called him Mr. Gay Watch, it was so ridiculous

Lucky Chicken --- Robotech: The Macross Saga (GBA). (You'd think the very last unlockable plane in that game would be something surprising and cool, right? Maybe Isamu Dyson's YF-19 from Macross Plus? NOPE! *Literally* you just unlocked and are playing as a CHICKEN wearing Hikaru Ichijo/Rick Hunter's helmet.)
