Nintendo should just buy Capcom, or the rights to Megaman already. I do believe it is up for grabs at the moment. We've seen what Nintendo can do with Megaman in Smash. What about in a reboot of the franchise? They succeeded in reviving Kid Icarus.

The original Spyro the Dragon series ended on a cliffhanger with their last, and less known, game, Spyro: Shadow Legacy. After defeating the Sorcerer he escapes and vows his revenge, Spyro returns to his friends and the Dragon Elders to rest for a while and then prepare for his return. But then they decided to reboot the series with the Legend of Spyro Trilogy, and then reboot it again with that Skylanders stuff, but I really don't count Skylanders to be part of the Spyro franchise, it feels too much like its own franchise with Spyro and Cynder just tacked on.

Amen to that. Come to think of it, the end of Dawn of the Dragon could be considered a bit of a cliffhanger in my opinion. Might be just that the last few cutscenes seemed a bit rushed... I just wish Activision was able to see the gold buried beneath the rough patches of the Legend of Spyro. They could find a way for Malefor to return and give him a few tweaks to make him an even better villain, or they could reimagine some old villains from the original Spyro, like how My Little Pony redid Tirek from "Rescue at Midnight Castle." Either way, there wasn't exactly much resolution: how are the dragons going to deal with the remnants of the world? How does Ignitus adjust to his new role as the Chronicler? What's going to happen to Dark Spyro? I know Spyro and Cynder survive, but the question is HOW!?

Ok, a game ending that made me feel like shit, was the ending to The Shadow Of The Colossus. (SPOILER ALERT, GO PLAY THIS F**KING GAME) The game ended with the main character becoming the 17th Colossi, and you are desperately mashing buttons to fight the wind pulling you away from Mono.The theme of "Sometimes, no matter how hard you work, you might not get anything at all in the end" which has been seen in anime such as Fullmetal Alchemist, is very clear here. In the end, we get a glimpse of her, waking up, and wandering around, confused, and most likely looking for Wander, and his Horse, Argo, strides in, injured. This makes gamer's assume that Mono knows what Wander sacrificed, and it cuts to the credits. This ending is amazing and beautiful, but pissed me off, and everything you worked for in the game, was for nothing, as he never got confirmation that Mono lived. Only the gamer knew, and not the character. I would have placed this at #8

All things considered, or at least my understanding, Valve had begun work on Half-life 2 very quickly after HL1. It kept getting pushed back as other shooters were released onto the market because Valve and various producers wanted the game to shine out; now all things considered, we have like five shooters be released yearly now-a-days with all these gimmicks that'll draw people away. Valve probably doesn't want to rely simply on reputation, but a game that stands out and well above the competition. It will happen, but there's no point in holding your breath for it. Enjoy the other releases that other developers have to offer and the wait, when HL3 does release, will be moooooore than worth it. ...or pull a Duke Nukem. Pray that doesn't happen.

I think valve just wants to focus on another IP, but this may be a guess or it may be (most likely) they put all of their time into the steam box.

Still think Half-Life should be on the number one spot of unresolved storylines. The way Valve has been beating around the bushes about the issue for years makes the Episode 2 cliffhanger even worse than it originally was. The fact that it's been confirmed by Valve themselves that they haven't even started working on Half-Life 3 makes me question if they are even a gaming company anymore. Dota 2 was their last gaming product released and that was 2 years ago. Valve seems more interested in Steam and creating their own publishing platforms than to make games nowadays.

"Advent Rising" is a game I would add to this list. The gameplay wasn't perfect, but the story, the characters, the music; it was awesome! However, like Beyond G&E, it was meant to be a trilogy and due to poor sales, was last seen on a cliffhanger.

Just for the record. George Lucas told us to cut the game short (I'm taking about KOTOR2 btw). We put the directors cut on steam with the workshop along with some additional content we wish we could have put in that we didn't. The game was supposed to be waaaaaaaaaaay longer the ending was going to be much better. What I'm trying to say is get it on steam and download the additional content mod. I interpreted the ending to XIII as a paradox. You are on a boat, and the twist is the presidents brother is number one. You escape from the guards, jump off the boat and wake up on the beach all over again. It is a never ending cycle. I found the ending mindblowing.

Something like that is in every Elder scrolls game. The world is just massive. like in Morrowind (number 3), you could read everywhere about argonians returning back to the marsh, and mass slave escapes, but you couldn't do more than catch/free a few slaves about it. 2 years later, the lore has said argonians purging morrowind as a moon crashes into a volcano, which happens to erupt immediately after.

The main problem about that is why did they make elder scrolls online first I understand they wanted one game to be mass-multiplier. Hell i was apart of the Bata for it. I personally don't care for cliff hangers since a lot of game/show with cliffhanger may not happen or takes a long time in happening. There are a few problems as well with the whole war ageist the Aldmeri dominion. lets say you do wake up in a prison with amnesia wouldn't that also mean you have a choice of ether (A) helping the dominion or (B) going ageist them. it is true "you" as the player knows what the dominion does but with amnesia you wouldn't know. (C) what happen to you as the dragon born and what happens to the dragon born powers or the shouts? (D) How did the rest of the dragons die.? Where did they go?" "Dragons were never gone. They were just invisible, and very very quiet." by (M'aiq the Liar) Don't get me wrong i like the sound of the amnesia idea but there are holes in it too. Also "I" know you were just making a example of the many possibility, i do like how you think and we shouldn't lose hope i feel it will come someday, but in a few years i bet. When the next game does come out i will be looking forwards to it.

I'm just going to say it. EVERY SINGLE MEGA MAN STORYLINE! Legends was a big disappoitment but put that on top not finishing a story for the original. i.e. show us what happens to Mega Man before X shows up. Sly 4: Thieves in Time: SPOILER: Sly is lost in time, we have yet to meet the rest of his ancestors, and the cliffhanger shows him about to explore Ancient Egypt. Although a movie is planned for 2016; it's a retelling of Sly 1. And neither Sony or Sanzuru has made future announcements for a fifth game. We only hope that will be possible one day.

In all honesty, I wouldn't mind waiting for a fifth sly. We waited a LONG time for Sly 4 and it was a pretty decent entry in the series. I just feel like Sanzaru shouldn't have left it at a cliffhanger, it doesn't seem safe especially for a series that has already undergone such a long hiatus. With such a small fanbase remaining for Sly Cooper, I feel that it was a bad move to leave the ending open for a new game. It's simply because in reality it's a gamble and it's uncertain if the sales from Sly 4 will have been enough to support the company and help them to push for Sly 5. I'd love to see a Sly 5, and I really wish to see another Sly installment in the future, but I feel that it's kind of unlikely that there will be one.

Justin Starr I really don't think there's going to be a 5th. I've always been a fan of sly and it was a disappointing in my opinion, and it didn't really feel like the game worked. I think if they made a fifth, it wouldn't be enough to truly keep the franchise going.

shenloken2 Sanzaru have recently come out and said they have no plan for a new Sly Cooper game. Apparently they want to focus on future Sonic games, god knows why they made that decision. I'm secretly hoping Sucker Punch is working on the fifth entry as given their reputation, they would likely be given a larger budget as Sony recognize them as one of their top tier first party studios.

For #6, its more than just a rumor, Haestrom's sun was supposed to be part of the story arc in 3, but the head writer from the first 2 was sent off to work on The Old Republic, and the guys who took over for him sucked at their jobs and couldn't figure out what to do with the notes he left behind, so we got the crap ending for 3 that only makes sense if you assume it was all a dream.

How did Kingdom Hearts not get a spot much less even an honorable mention? the main series was contained on the ps2 and completely skipped the ps3 with minor story lines added in on handhelds to connect the plots, so we are left with a huge cliffhanger as to what KH 3 will hold

One game that had an ending that left me hanging was Freedom Fighters for the PS2. The game ended with you liberating NYC from the Soviets and then hearing word that there were more uprisings in the US; then it just faded to black.

Yeah, pretty much wanted Legends 3 here... but when Capcom announced that's you'd also be playing as a new/another character my enthusiasm was cut in half. I love how Mega Man fans act like MM games don't need no story or that having a story is silly yet Legends HAD a great narrative yet so many turned their back on it because it wasn't a sidescroller.

cloudtx i do think it was actually quite a surprising ending, i must admit as obvious as it was after the ending, i didnt expect joey to be the one, and for your character to have no choice in the matter. it is a unresolved ending if you think about it. Revenge lies deep in the ending of this,anything from the main character seeking revenge or even joey's son seeking revenge. but by no means was it a bad ending, i appreciate twist's and heart wrenching endings, because it makes you think about the game long after its completion, this is the intention of the game creator, to leave a impression on you is their ultimate goal, to leave you thinking why?, how? and what? this is why a sequel needs to be made......... just my opinion :)

But I think it was a great ending precisely because it felt a bit "unresolved", it's resolved for me in the sense that, if they never make a Mafia 3 or if it doesn't continue the story, I'm satisfied with what I got, but if we they do make it then I'll be interested in knowing what happens next. I'm fine either way, but I'm okay with how it ended.

I'd like to add Advent Rising to the list! With a story written by Orson Scott Card, this Xbox exclusive was a fan favorite. The first in the series, the ending *SPOILERS* depicts our Hero, Gideon Wyatt, after destroying the aliens that essentially wiped out the human race, being transported to an alien world, covered in snow. As he shivers and slowly trudges through the snow, he collapses, only to have a large alien, in a warm fur jacket, tell him that there is "much to be done" and cover him in said jacket. The camera then goes black. For YEARS, I've awaited Majesco's next installment, but it seems Cooking Mama has been taking up their time.

Fuck Capcom. they didn't screw up and cancel only the Megaman Legends, but also Megaman X and Megaman original and all the series of the franchise. There will be no new sequels for any of the series forever, period, but they decided to dig up the already-starting-to-rot corpse out of the grave and squeeze some more cash by letting him in Super Smash Brothers, only to throw him back into the grave.
