As much as I love Turn On the Bright Lights and acknowledge their massive influence on alt rock, they really werent able to recapture their success of ToTbl and because of that they pretty much fell by the wayside. Also didnt help that they werent that massive in the mainstream.

Lee Torry I agree. As much as I love Interpol, they never topped their debut. Turn on the bright lights was a masterpiece, and they live in it’s shadow. Antics is a good follow up but doesn’t reach the same high as TOTBL. Our love to admire was alright and so was their self-titled album. Carlos left :( (The bassit.) El Pintor was alright, just safe. And I don’t like marauder. Turn on the bright lights is a hard album to beat.

@@leetorry I think Antics is a brilliant album, it might not be as much a single piece as TOTBL, but every single song on it is great. Our Love To Admire is not as good as the first two, but it is still great. I wasn't its biggest fan when it came out, but the more I've listened to it, the more I love it. Those are 3 great albums (including one that is perfect) in 5 years. And I mean, this list includes Blink 182, in what universe is that alternative rock? Plus, their biggest album came out in 1999. And can I add, where are the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and LCD Soundsystem?

The Strokes should be number 1 they pretty much invented this genre, and paved the way for many other bands like the Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, etc. Also The Killers and Interpol should be ranked. The Killers for obvious reasons, and Interpol's first two albums are fucking genius. Seriously if you like good music check out Interpol's first two albums they are probably the least popular among the others I mentioned but they are just as good.

john lennon the post-punk revival movement specifically which is a development in alternative rock. These bands include arctic monkeys, kings of leon, the killers, franz ferdinand, the hives, the vines, the strokes, interpol etc. This movement was in large part due to the strokes, who broke through to the mainstream from local scenes in the early 2000s.

Yet they get an honorable mention. And Arcade Fire and the Arctic Monkeys are on this list? Who in God's name remembers their songs or their album for that matter in the new millennia.
